Can you learn digital marketing for free?

I've been checking out a few of Neil Patel's videos including Learn the Best Marketing Strategies and Marketing Techniques for Free.

His video pretty much boils down to him telling you:

a) Read the top marketing blogs b) Create a dummy site to experiment with c) Use what works on your main site

Is marketing really this simple?

How did you learn online marketing and what advice would you give to small business owners?

No marketing is not easy or free... you probably need a domain and hosting at the very least. But you can learn marketing without paying guru(tards) like Neil an arm and a leg for info that is easily searchable here on bhw.

Marketing is something that will give you a lot of of ideas that seem simple on paper, but can be really frustrating to implement. Keep that in mind. That is the problem with guys like Mr. Patel, they leave that part out. Ideas are worthless, a turd is worth more than an idea.

Some of the best info on the entire internet can be found in the stickied posts at the top of every subforum here on bhw. Many many info products have been sold with much less actionable info... read these posts and practice. Also, look at the member's threads who have lots of thanks and have been here a long time.

Keep taking action and testing. Learn to sell above all else.

Neil Patel spends so much time telling everyone how to do marketing, he is basically marketing himself while talking about marketing. I doubt he has time to do any marketing aside from marketing himself after a full day of his self marketing kind of marketing.

No it not that easy , once you get the hosting , the vps , the domains , the 25 programs to do online tasks , the monthly only programs, understand xhtml,html,programming lanuage and a database and then
Wordpress and advance css and understanding business and business taxs ......

Trying methods and trying advertisers and split testing methods .

Know you need to no how to use them all ,

You can do free methods, but as you need to move forward, them free methods start eating the money for better paid services...

You tell me is it that easy?????

Marketing isn't free. But learning about it can definitely be free.

We have these things called 'Libraries'. Also, we have 'Bookstores'. You can go to the marketing section of either and learn TONS about marketing at absolutely zero cost.

Additionally, there are many wonderful online resources which can enlighten you about best practices. If all you got out of Patel was one idea, you need to start reading his blog religiously.

That guy puts out zillions of ideas, all the time, all of them good.

Now, THAT really sums up marketing. Patel is definitely promoting himself and his brand while he's putting good learnings out there, but that's really it isn't it. The more you give the more you get, it's that simple. If you walk into a cocktail party where you don't know anybody and say "HI! I'M SELLING SOMETHING', you're not going to get very far are you.

i agree. The only thing that he appears to get into people's heads is that he is a guru so that people will tell others and he would get more signups

I completely agree with everything everyone said on this forum. Of course you can learn marketing for free, but as everyone here said - it's quite difficult. Actually, buying your services from one individual to teach you "how to market" is one of the fastest and most sure ways to not learn anything.

Knowledge about E-commerce is relatively slim. The people that do know a lot usually keep it to themselves. The guides here are useful but again, with the evolving internet, a lot of the techniques become either ineffective or completely useless with each passing year. It's a real problem that hasn't been discussed very thoroughly in any forum. Posts are just haphazardly thrown together and people expect to "learn."

TL;DR: It's a problem that definitely still needs to be addressed in the future, but the answer is clear - don't go to the majority of the marketing gurus. They haven't done any marketing and if they have, it's definitely not the strategies that should be used in small scale E-commerce businesses.

The best way is to read the forum posts, if you like video use udemy and do a full blown corse .

That easy .

But like i told you , there a real lot to learn , it a real big study but worth doing .....

Internet marketing involves a lot of tools and settings and computer tasks ....

I completely agree but the problem remains is where do you find that information? BHW isn't enough. There are a lot of undiscussed topics here on BHW that require a lot more studying.

Before asking this question. Did you analyze yourself?
Your business really easy. Noooo! Like that marketing also.

Not an easy to learn marketing.

Read success and failure case studies from bloggers & entrepreneurs. And then, learn strategies and set a goal every week and try for your website. After few weeks, you can realize "what is marketing". If you are interested in learning about marketing. Hope you can start this process.
