Hello BHW, I have been reading this forum for years but this is my first post :)

I noticed there where a few threads about followliker location targeting but I did not find a clear answer.

Is there any way to target users only in a specific location i.e only users in Canada??

I am happy with my settings but I am getting engagement from all over the world and my business does not operate on a global scale. Did I miss something?

Thanks!

You did not miss something, it is possible to target users in Canada. In your Scrape User section (or scrape photo if you want to like their pictures) right click and start a new Query. Select Location form the dropdown menu. The tricky part is typing in the location exactly how Instagram labels the location. Instagram is very specific on how they categorize their locations. For example go to instagram and type in the area you are trying to target, the location should come up in the recommended field. Click on that and then copy and paste that into the Followliker Query. Let me know if that works!

Also you could be more specific in your location. Eg. if you are targeting Canada, then also use Toronto (or any other city that you want to target) and its specific places (restaurants, shopping malls, cinemas etc)

Thanks @Tucker12 . Will this layer location targeting with my other targeting to include "Toronto", or would this Target all users in Toronto that match my other targeting ? (does that make sense?)

ie. will doing this target people who match hashtag 1, 2, 3 AND ALSO people in Toronto? or will it target all people in Toronto that also match Hashtag 1, 2, and 3?

Also, would this only work if users are actually including locations in their posts?

Unfortunately I'm only aware of a way to follow by specific location tag, for example Toronto, Canada. You could try and target restaurants that are local in the Toronto area or land marks in that area depending on your niche! To answer your other question yes Instagram does not store users location other than when they chose to post their location. So for example if I hop on instagram and post a picture in Toronto but do not include that in the location field, there will be no evidence that I was in Toronto unless I put it in my caption or in my bio that I lived there.

This is exactly what I was thinking, just wasn't sure. Thanks for the insights!

I was wondering about geolocation quite some time! Thanks For Clarifying!
