Lets encrypt and especially ZEROSSL website is surely a beginner friendly way to acquire the certificate. So is WP Encrypt plugin. But the real challenge for shared hosting users is that their cPanel may not have TLS/SSL menu at all. I am sure about hostgator. If you have to pay your webhost an amount of $10 for installation and same amount every 2-3 months for renewal of certificate. this option is no more free.
For shared hosting users who do not have TLS/SSL in their cPanel (like hostgator cloud plans) cloudflare is much better option (and probably the only free option). It is also fairly easy to setup.

anyone managed to get this to work on bluehost? I had a chat with someone from the technical support and he said a dedicated ip address(additional $80/yr) is required for 3rd party ssl.

Under the ssl manager tab, there is no selection for installation of ssl. Kind of sucks

Lovly info but i Am sure most domain registers do https free if needed.

But for a free https fantastic.

Https in seo did not out power a normal header , there was rumors a https was going to increase indexing ,but google stopped that idea ....

Was to save on domain names as well as secuity , http:// for seo still rocks....

Ip6 and new domain exstentions, came along and https idea was scraped....

Was time ago i read all this , can look up on google....

Or just contact your hosting provider and let them know that you want Let's Encrypt support for your cPanel hosting.

Your hosting provider doesn't support Let's Encrypt? Change your provider.

We was from the first supporters of Let's Encrypt and we issue Let's Encrypt certs automatically with all accounts and there is ZERO reason to not use it.

You can uninstall current certificate and create new keypairs to get Letsencrypt certificate.
It is more likely that your current webshost installed LetsEncrypt plugin. You can install the certificate automatically using this plugin.
Just search in SSL section of your CPanel.
