Youtube Update - Strikes System more Clear and Consistent?

Hello guys,

On 19 February 2019, YouTube communicates about change in the strikes system that will start on 25 February 2019.

To resume:

• The first strike will result in a one-week freeze on the ability to upload any new content to YouTube, including live streaming, and other channel activities. Strikes will expire after 90 days.
• The second strike in any 90-day period will result in a two-week freeze on the ability to upload any new content to YouTube.
• The third strike in any 90-day period will result in channel termination.

As mentioned, everyone who uploads content to YouTube will now receive a warning the first time their content crosses the line. Although the content will be removed, there will be no other penalty on the channel. There will be only one warning and unlike strikes, the warning will not reset after 90 days.


I am curious to know your opinion about this update? Does it go in the right direction for the creators?

Not a lot of this has changed in my honest opinion. Its a way in the right direction but they need to fix their false content strikes and false monetization claims because this is the biggest problem.

I wonder, does a monetization claim count as a strike then as well or only things that go against the youtube rules?

I agree, they reduce the penalization but if the content ID and all the false monetization still continue, the problem is the same.

I think it depends on the monetization claim, I know that copyright infringements don't lead to a strike.

Yeah its a good update and I am pretty sure will get more updates as time passes.
