I noticed Mr Beast has a new channel where he just uploads short clips. Anyone know whats going on here?

Is Youtube testing out new features or a new algorithm to compete with TikTok?
Or is this a Mr Beast testing out methods to gain subscribers with quickly with short clips?

Just found out yes Youtube has confirmed they released Youtube Shorts, a new video experience on Youtube.
 
I wonder how this new feature will affect the algorithm, hopefully for the better.

But how to get access to that? I saw it was released for India and mobile.
I used proxy on my mobile but when I upload - I see it as a regular video and it's confusing. I am not ready to open short movie to the public if it's visible as regular video
 
I've noticed the algorithm seems to be pushing short (<30s) vids lately.
 
I would think if those videos have prerolls (pretty sure they do) it wouldn't be much different than the CPM from a 4 or 5 minute long video. Short videos mean more opportunities to run ads, I'm surprised it took youtube this long.
 
I've been noticing short 5-15secs YouTube video blow up to million views recently
So I'm gonna try this out
