Does anyone monetize YouTube through music distribution services?
Do they pay?
Or is this method of monetization already impossible?
I have several large YouTube channels with disabled monetization, I wanted to monetize them.
I monetized YouTube channels through Routenote, at this point they wrote that they are conducting an investigation.

To be honest, I've never monetized YouTube through music, but I came across such a service. I personally haven't tested it :( tunecore and not sure about songtradr . com

I'm interested also but i have heard that these music services have stopped paying channels that they think are stealing content.

Distributors are gonna start cracking down harder on this soon because almost every channel that uploads content that cannot be monetized is using this method now. For example just look up any recent compilation video and you'll see they're using this method. It's too widespread and the method is easy to implement (there's even youtube videos on how to do it lol).

A way around it is to become your own distributor, which is possible but there is more hoops you need to jump through and money you have to spend in order to become one. Also you will assume even more risk because you will be held responsible for all "illegal " activity since you own the distribution and the copyright owners are going to sue the distributor, not the individual users.

I don't think this will change easily. Many entertainments make money from edited videos and music.

Even Korea's Black Pink and BTS use these methods to further promote music and make money.

It wouldn't be that difficult for YouTube to only allow verified media companies/studios/artists use of the content ID system. (They already have CMS accounts)

Everything is mess at the moment because anyone can register whatever original song/instrumental with content id system.

For example I recently came across this "song" that is being used to copyright claim a video lol

If somehow they were able to verify which songs/artists were actually legitimate it would cut down on the amount of people abusing the copyright system but it leads to another problem about what will be considered "legitimate" and how they would even go about verifying all those songs.

That leads me to believe it would be much easier if they didn't allow any distributor that allows independent artists to distribute their music on their service, access to the content ID system. Of course there will be people who will find a way to get around it but it will be so much more difficult for the average person to abuse the copyright system.

I am also looking for a "solution" like that. I do compilations on my channel, was therefore never monetized and was searching for a way around to monetize it with content id audio track claims.
Because i was too naive i started "partnering" with like a shady service/fake website that provided some audiotracks that get claimed(which i didnt really much pay attention to at the start because i just finally wanted to monetize some videos somehow) where i also got paid after the first month, but i feel like it was way less then it should have been.

I know two websites / services like this, but I don't know if they really pay or not, was it "Astr*n**d" or "Y*2z**g"? (censoring the names because I don't want people to think I'm advertising these)

Thanks for sharing. :)
I know the first one of them and they seem quite shady, too. No one really gives information about analytics of your uploads or anything and also never really specificly reply to exact questions.
Also the pictures of „them“ on their website are just random and fake that you can easily google. I heard they do pay a certain amount but probably keep way more of the money than agreed.

Yeah they look like a scam tbh. But what I wanted to know is what service/website do you use? You said you got paid, not much money but its better than nothing haha

the last thing i used vanished pretty much and was more like a private pm thing for a short moment. I did also use As***... but i didn't use them long enough to get paid enough to say that they at least are a little bit 'legit' and their payouts feel like the average cpm is not much more than 0.00008 usd

lol it's so low because content id cpm is really bad and most of those people running those services use a distribution service to monetize their audio tracks and the distribution service takes a percentage of the revenue around 20-30%. then the people running the service also take their 20-30% so in the end you're only getting 40-60% of your revenue but you're most likely getting even less than that.

know that you don't receive the actual earnings report directly from the distributor or the actual payout, only the people running the monetization service do. since there's no way for you to know what you actually earned and they control the money, they're going to keep as much money as they can lol.

What you are saying might be true but still they are operating in a shady way to their "partners" because they act and tell you like they are fully in charge with their licenses for "their" songs and it's an easy and fair 60% for you, 40 for them split but aren't transparent at all about the earnings and payouts.
Obviously nobody is forced to work with such people but even if they would be honest upfront about the money cuts and everything, people would rather accept working under those conditions than having a gamble about the payout every month because you never know how what slice you are allowed to have from the cake.

what i'm saying is true though. all those services are shady because what they're doing in the first place is not allowed on youtube so why should they care about being honest and transparent lol. why care about what conditions people would rather accept when there's plenty of people who do not care and would accept anything to get their videos monetized.

like you said you aren't forced to use the service but you also aren't allowed to circumvent the youtube's monetization policy so just be glad you can make some money off your videos.

Happy 2021!
What's the news on music affiliate programs and their "investigations"?
Routenote paid someone?

Is this method still working? Anybody who may have received it payment in December 2020?
