Is this a viable option? Assuming you could find a source to restream onto YouTube? Isn't this kind of illegal possibly?

Yes it's illegal, you will get an instant ban like all others who do the "24/7 family guy and simpsons" etc...

I am not sure how he is monetizing.. Good idea..
 
If you get caught the copyright owners will get it removed and you'll get banned. why put time and resources into something like that?
