I've recently made a video that I and many others thought was very high quality but the fact that the Title wasn't interesting to others, the video itself did poorly in contrast to other Click baity titles I've had in the past. So I did an experiment where I Did a part 2 of a successful video that I've done in the past using a similar title to the click bait one I've done before and with a similar thumbnail, posted the video at a very unreasonable time and what do you know the video is now my best performing video this month. Once i've come to this conclusion I realized how important the Title and thumbnail is more than the content itself because if they're not intersted in the video they not going to click it no matter how dope the content is. You could've shot the video with a $10,000 Commercial Red Camera have the best editor but if your Title and Thumbnail isn't intersting using some sort of BAIT (there's good and bad bait) then your views will reflect it. Subscribers do not see videos anymore in this new algorithim so that doesn't matter, all that matters is Youtube Watch History meaning what ever they are watching and interest them similar to tik tok.

So think of the most click baity thing you can think of but make sure what ever it is your title is about, its in the video !

Can't bring much to the topic, but any chance you got good guide on clibaity thumbnails and titles? Or examples i guess

I find using BIG FONTS and keeping it as simple as possible. For example if you got a Video titled " 5 Overpowered Guns in Cold War in 2021" you can have a picture of a blurred out gun saying "THIS GUN IS OP!" at the bottom of the picture which sparks curiosity and whoever clicks the video is coming to find the answers .

Something that sparks emotion is usually a good indicator of a good title and thumbnail. I sometimes use this website : https://www.contentrow.com/tools/headline-generator to get some ideas.

This video here helps alot to:

Unfortunately, it's true. Remember the old times when it was not yet possible to upload a thumbnail so people just put the image as the central frame of the video?

Actually, even if the thumbnail is good and people click on the vid, thereby increasing the CTR; if the video is terrible the retention will be bad and also not perform well. You need both quality and clickbaitiness.

The thumbnail only gets you half the distance. If the video itself is shit, best of luck with the thumbnails!

I've noticed some of my new uploads with high CTR failed to get promoted. I think the reason is because of low watch retention, which is a bad signal to YT's algorithm.

More than title, Thumbnail plays a huge role and impact the CTR

But the retention algorithm come to play after some views to push further or not, it can be seen on the impressions

A good thumbnail and atleast 50% video retention will push the video

How much is the average watch time of that best performed video?

I think its all about a combination of the title and better yet the thumb nail picture.

its the thumbnail, cant make the title clickbait, because you want your keyword as the first words.

Title preview and thumbnail plays an important role even well known YouTubers with millions of subscribers does make an attractive display just to attract. Not only youtube the internet is all about how to attract people loves spicy and things

its all about thumbnail and title. youtube is basically tiktok. its a lottery

i remember spent 5 min make a click bait thumbnail vs almost 1 hour thumbnail with great effort. guess the winner...

clickbait and video quality are great but first, you have to make youtube put your video on the viewer's youtube home page. Browse features or recommendation features

It is needed for sure.
If your channel is new, then alao you need it for views.
If channel is old, then also needed to grab attention.

It used to be a strategy to just rely on clickbait now you need to click bait and retain them - basically the game is getting harder.
