Hello!

I have now problems with one of my youtube accounts, cause youtube forcing me to use a 2 factor authentication, which i do not want. I also turned off the 2 factor auth in my security settings in my google account, but the "Forcing" still remains.

I have already registered a phone number with an account, and as far as I know, this number can only be used once!

For me, this is already the next step towards becoming completely transparent.

I would now like to know if anyone else has the same problem as me?

Why don't you want? Enable it, its 100% safer

Because I am an opponent of this new norm of revealing everything about oneself!

What are you even talking about man, download google authenticator or use site like 2fa.live to obtain your OTP code when it asks. Get yourself together and accept that you are in 2026, you have no privacy the moment you connected on the internet.

Google Auth has no desktop app, i´m not using android

You can get it on iPhone bro. Or use 2fa.live as I said man.

Yes i thx but i do not use Iphone or Smartphone, only Windows :)

Then you go and you will get 12 characters thingy, and when you get it go to website 2fa.live and get your code, also you can get chrome extension for authenticator

You don’t actually need a phone number for 2FA, just use desktop authenticator or browser extension

Yeah, I feel you. I'm not thrilled about being forced into 2FA either. I tried using a desktop authenticator so I don't depend on my phone, and it worked on some sites, but YouTube still pushes it for me. Anyone else found a workflow that keeps things safer without turning into a privacy drama?

I will address that part of your concern : I have had the exact same phone number in 5 Google accounts. An issue arises only if a phone number is used too many accounts within a short period.

I agree! Just use 2FA.

I use 2FA every time it is offered.

I like the protection and using an email account works just fine if you should you not like the other options.

yes I was forced to setup 2FA to access youtube studio recently. Just wait till submitting your ID or face scanning is mandatory to use your account. Gonna happen eventually.

Yeah youTubes been forcing 2fa on a lot of accounts lately  sadly even if you turn it off in google settings, yt can still require it  not much workaround here :p

Google is increasingly forcing 2FA on YouTube accounts, even if you turn it off manually. It usually happens when the account is seen as higher risk (new devices, different locations, etc.). So in many cases, it’s no longer optional. Phone numbers can sometimes be reused later, but it’s not guaranteed.

Google is forcing 2FA on everyone now, so just use virtual numbers if you don't want to link your real one. You can use 2fa.live for desktop auth
