We can actually use a service called Linkedtube.com for creating Annotations-like links for linking external-websites outside youtube.
Please note that this cannot be used for videos on Youtube , but you can use it with any Youtube video for embedding it on other sites.
I know this is not exactly the solution to the problem which is discussed in this thread!

You can get the links clickable on your a video quite easily at no cost.
The sponsered videos all have clickable text on them.
Entre your video as if you were going to put it into their paid platform (their version of adwords). As soon as you have all fields filled then launch your "ad" then pause it immediately to ensure no cost.
As your campaign is "running" even though paused the clickable links remain.

I came across this thread using a major search engine while trying to link my Youtube videos to my storefront.
As of December 2012, or perhaps before, you can link from your videos to sites you own with way less trouble.
I can't post the link, but it's out there.
