Great post and actually super important matter in my opinion. Especially when it comes to SEO it can be frustrating sometimes. For example when a new update is on its way.

I am working countless hours with my computer as well. Doing sports at evening is important to me. Sometimes going to a park without my phone or laptop and just relax. Escaping the virtual world and getting back into the real world.

op please help me out... i am literally losing everyone around me because i kept focusing on 1 single project idea. it requires so much energy... that i had to find a friend to do it with me. we are coding on it for months. there is too much to do and the difficulty is beyond extreme levels. i am not telling this to anyone because they wont understand. they are starting to leave me as a friend because i detach from contacts in order to remain in focus towards my goal. no one understands what and why i am doing this for... if i dont do this then i would rather not be alive at all. how to balance life with friends and female friends + still managing to remain in the focused frame towards the end goal?

There is nothing wrong with working towards a goal.

Around you there will be people who support your dream and people who dont.

Unfortunately it will be hard to distinguish which is which.

Make a written plan and start at the end.

Write down what the finished product will be.

Write down how long it should take you to complete.

Work your way back and set a goal for the end of each month.

    For example;

Six months from now the app will be complete.

Five months from now the UX will be tested and approved.

Four months from now the final touches will be put on the program.

Three months from now the database will be connected and the program will be 80% complete.

Two months from now the framework will be in place.

Six weeks from now we will have completed the first designs and know how we want the program to look and the design to be.

    It will be written down.

Monday to Thursday we will work 12 hour days.

Everyday we will complete so much work.

Every Friday we finish early and go out for a meal and have a relaxed evening.

Every Saturday I will go to the park for a walk and do one thing I enjoy which doesn't involve a phone or computer.

I apologise for the typos I am on my phone and my fingers aren't built for touch-screen.

I think this is one of the most important aspects. Schedule some time to manage the social aspects of life because contrary to a lot of people's beliefs, money typically comes second in everyone's life. What fun is money if you're locked in a room 24/7? If you really look at the OP's list, it all boils down to keeping YOU energized, healthy and sane. Personally, I break every rule on this list, and it's not good. The longer I drift, the harder it is to eat crow and re-establish relationships. It takes a toll on everything I do from top to bottom and it stacks up fast. If it's to the point where it actually makes you question your existence, there is a good chance it's already effecting your work. Start today, even if it's just a quick PM to a close friend just to let them know that while locked away somewhere working that you're actually wishing you were out somewhere with them. A lot of times the small random gestures have a huge impact.

Burn out is a real thing in any profession and in life and our mental health needs to be treated better as a society. It really is so important that you talk about burn out. It's about continuing to bring awareness to it. Cus we will forget about it and sadly society doesn't value it because its still a taboo topic, but the only way to break the taboo is to keep creating discussions about it and thinking up solutions to the problems that cause it and the problems it causes.

    I can totally agree.

I ended up quitting my corporate job after ending up in the hospital in December. I woke up at 7, rarely went to bed before 3 AM. Every week day. I couldn't enjoy weekends. I passed out while out after work and that's when I said no more.

A few months later I'm now starting up my own real estate business and although money is a little low, I value my health a lot more than working some bullshit 9-5 for a big ass company which will never value you no matter how much dedication and work you put in.

    Fuck corporate.

A few golden nuggets in this article. Especially, planning and focusing. I really need to do this more often. Worth reading again!

We all have an urge to quit.

We hear that voice in our head 'is it worth it', 'you will never make money at this', 'why are you wasting your time'.

Our reaction to that voice is what will make us or break us.

Trust me, lately I have been hearing it a lot. But, if I don't try I will never know.

I would rather fail trying my hardest than fail not trying at all.

Many people dont understand how tiring it is not only to sit all day but to constantly think hard lol
I believe its easier to do manual labor over mental work while in front of a PC

This really resonated with me, especially the last section. Working on my business keeps me online for hours others don't understand, especially family. Rather than trying to make them understand what I'm doing behind that screen for so long, I've found just being empathetic to why they feel neglected and taking that offline time to improve those areas really adds balance to my personal life.
