I know this has probably been answered here before but I really wasnt able to find much so Im going to go ahead and ask.
Ive noticed that everyone spends all there time and energy focusing soley on google for everything but what about Yahoo/Bing?
Has Yahoo really become that unimportant or? Im just curious because you rarely here of anyone optimizing , or focusing on Yahoo/Bing traffic anymore. Or is it that if just focus on google and you will be good to go with Yahoo as well?

    Thanks

    Hey mikeydell, welcome to BHW!
It's just a matter of effectivity. Why would you put much effort in the other search engines if you get, at best, 10% of the traffic from them?
On the other hand, if you optimize for big G, you will always also optimize for the others.

yah, really while you're trying to even get on the first page of google, you'll usually look at your sites rankings on yahoo and bing and you'll usually be #1. lol

Most of the people here focus on Google since its the search engine which receives most of the traffic. Yahoo and Bing together receive very less traffic in compared to Google and hence people believe that working a little harder and enjoying much more traffic from Google would be much better than working just a little less and getting really less traffic.

Google is the King now days. Each and every member wanna rank her website only in Google. And according to me, 90% search on your website is drived from Google.

    Mikeydell,

You are right that many focus on Google when thinking about or performing their optimization efforts. I can't speak for others but I know I focus on Google the most since (as of November of 2012) Google maintains 66.9% of search market share. Some analysts put them well over 70%. This is a major reason why many SEO's focus on them and why their updates and other moves are watched so closely. They are a giant in search.

That's not to say you should ignore the other engines and the other members here raise a valid point about optimizing for one being good for the others. Typically in many industries there are leaders and other competitors follow. For instance how many smart phones did you see with good internet browsing capabilities before the iPhone came out? Pretty much none other than blackberries which were marginal at best. So Yahoo and Bing use many of the best algorithmic practices established by Google.

Here is an interesting post on the subject,
