Wow... School and College are very outdated :(

I can only judge you by what you write, since I don't know you.

Your intellect obviously shadows mine.

I'm sure you'll be a huge success in life.

All the best of luck.

Your sarcasm is entertaining.

Best of luck to you too.

Boring morning, absolutely nothing else to do. It was fun though. You`re a good kid, I can tell that. Don`t take yourself so seriously. But take school seriously.

And my experience has helped me make enough that I can live a life of freedom, and have the time to impart my wisdom to a 16 year old when most other older people are too busy struggling and couldn`t give a shit.
Hah i guess you got a point there.

Anyway i'm still sticking to my opinion and i really should get busy. Nobody likes a big talker who can't back up his talking

1. Sky is blue because the light refracted by the by ozone layer into the blue side of the spectrum.

2. sunset is orange due to the same reason

i went to school and thats how i know that.

school/college/university are just experience which you need in life, i have learnt more about "LIFE" in general in 1 year of university than in most of my life put together.
This experience cannot be weighed in terms of money...its priceless something you will regret not having.

My opinion on this is that college is dumb, school as in high school isn't. At high school you learn what you need to know to be prepared for the rest of your life. Like writing better, knowing how to do math and all. But college is just dumb. There isn't really anything a college professor can teach you that you will actually take out into the real world... But the only good thing about college is that if you pass, you get a degree, and maybe you will sit at a desk in a private office doing absolutely nothing and make 100k+. And to be honest, that would be perfectly fine with me, because you could do IM while sitting at that desk and make even more every year. :)

I wasn't this dumb when I was 7. I didn't know people this brain-dead actually existed in the real world. I'm too shocked to laugh!

Why don't you just shut up and have some respect for another man's opinion?

All your posts in this thread are useless and don't even show a slight contribution to the debate we're having here.

Surprisingly, people have different opinions, so learn to deal with it.

Read the above sentence a few times, you might learn something.

I actually haven't read the above quote. More than likely it is replete with your trademark infantile ramblings. The problem is simple : idiots like yourself are actually too dumb to allow anyone to make them see sense. This is why dipping into this thread has truly become an exercise in futility for me. You won't see sense, you won't learn and you will most assuredly end up leading a pointless existence. I know it's a cliche but people like you are the reason I support birth control. You're just fodder sucking up my oxygen.

Have your last word but, as your life deteriorates, I'll be the one having the last laugh.

:p

I suppose it's that time of day, where I chime in...

@Moneymaka: I agree with the opinion you have stated, over and over. I've got your back.

Has anyone ever took the time to actually read the book the Teacher reads out of? I personally have taken over a classroom and just did what the book instructed me to do. "Now ask your students what they thought of Question A and B", similar things to that. I will admit I have had some extremely well endowed Teachers that have taught me alot, but one has to stop and think "Are they really that great of a Teacher or can they just comprehend and speak English? Cause I can do that as well". College education isn't needed to live a comfortable lifestyle. It also doesn't mean that if one doesn't attend College, their doomed to a 9-5 job or wont perform as well as someone else in the role of society.

The only people that say college sucks are the ones who struggle through it...

Education is a big part of your life, not saying just PURE MATHS will help you live your life BUT it will Develop your brain into something much better for you to use.

As for the money, Unless you know what you are doing online you will never be able to have a secure, constant income and i guarantee only 5% of the people on this forum are able to have this income.

That is not true. I believe High School "sucked", as I was never challenged. It was a boring lifestyle and I found my days to be spent reading and learning from Google with my Macbook. I did not struggle and I still thought it sucked. May I ask where you grabbed your statistics for that 5% percentile?

School, college, whatever, it's very important, and don't ever let any bum tell you otherwise.

You don't go to school to learn to be a millionaire, or to get a job. Those idiots that think that's why they are going to school will be sitting in some (Go nowhere....I wasted my fucking life) job.

You got to school to learn how to learn....period. The reason you learned how to make money online was because you were taught the "Learning process", in school.

That's what you get out of school, learning different learning processes. The information you learn in school is not always applicable in real life.

The learning process....well learned.....is applicable in every facet of life.

Never listen to any fucking idiot that says school is not important.

I dont agree at all. The only reason I'm attending College is just that, to land a job. Any high profile job requires a degree in something, just because I believe I'm certified for the job, doesn't mean I'll get it. I go to College for a degree and nothing else. You can't learn to learn, if you don't know how to learn. The reason I've ever made any money online was because I read something and did what it said.

What part did you miss. You should definitely stay in school.

And if you think you got all the basics learned by the time you`re 18 then good luck to you, because I don`t think any amount of school will teach you anything. You would be what`s called `Learning disabled` .

Maybe you could get a job busing tables, dunno. It would probably give you just enough to live on your own anyway.

It is not unlikely to learn all the "basics", before age 18. My little sister can cook, clean, pay bills and hold a job. She's 12. What other "basics" could she possible be missing? What will College teach her that she couldn't research on the Internet, ask of someone else, or learn by Trial and Error?

I too attended school and did not know that. I Googled the question and came up with the exact same answer. Interesting. If your life experience is based on paying your way to some College, then I feel sorry for you. You'll learn more in life by surviving on your own, not paying someone to teach you to do so. Save your money, go meet some friends and live life.

Education is critically important. You should constantly be learning.
College is just useless brainwashing and programming. Obsolete. Waste of cash and your life in 95%+ cases.

Want to learn about life? Get a job. That is the real world. I started off working at a grocery store and got my own apartment until I was successfully self employed. What does college teach anyone about life?

You're entirely right, of course. The next time I see a dumbass say that education is a waste of time I will, instead, agree and tell them how much I respect their mighty intelligence.

By the way, I respect your mighty intelligence.

I'm sure as hell not going to a doctor who hasn't been to college. These institutions havce purpose.....

You may be able to read, but you can't comprehend. If your implying I'm a dumbass, by stating education is a waste of time, you should do yourself a favor , go back, and re-read everything I wrote slowly. Education is needed, College always isn't. There are exceptions. It might do you some good to just agree.

I'm sure as hell not going to a doctor who hasn't been to college. These institutions havce purpose.....

Right, which proves one of my points of attending College. To get a job.

What does college teach anyone about life?

But this is exactly the problem. You obviously have no clue yet you are passing judgement!

Well I never applied myself at school, got average grades and had no plans to stay in education at all. I mean really, I was just like you guys about the whole thing. But I went along to an open day (not really sure why) and got convinced to sign up to a college course - still not believing I was really gonna stick at it. Unlike you American folk, here you leave school at the ripe old age of 16, go onto college until 18 (if you wish), then onto university until 21 (if you wish).

But hey, I not only enjoyed college and stuck with it, but I ended up being the top of my class and I went on to finish a degree. I tell you what, this is the same old argument everyone always has and the simple answer is...

"Your an idiot if you think education is a waste of time, you learn 'how to learn' (really you do), you learn about yourself in ways that would take you 20yrs to figure out otherwise, and it doesn't matter what you say about so-called 'teachers' you still learn from them 95% of the time whether you like to admit it or not"

However...

"If you think that a degree gets you anywhere in life, your also an idiot. Its a piece of paper that actually in the 'real world' means jack all. Why? because most of what you learn is 2 years behind what's used 'in the field' - most of the 'teachers' struggle to keep up to date and just because 'you know how to do something' doesn't mean 'you can do something' in the real world."

Take this forum for example, 100 people could say they are an IM guru based on all the wonderful things they read here, yet not once have they ever actually implemented any of it. Thats why graduates can loose jobs to 'uneducated' people who have spent the same number of years working from the bottom and learning on-the-job. Why? because so many employers would pick someone with 3/4 years experience in a field and no degree over a fresh graduate in a heartbeat. Sad but true.

This is the exact reason why those entering the medical profession must complete x number of years actually working and doing the job (e.g. doctor) in addition to their formal academic study, because there are just some things you cant learn from a book, in a classroom, or even from someone else.

So all-in-all it really comes down to what YOU make of it. For those that feel strongly that education is a waste of time, then it will be. For those who don't, it will be very beneficial. For me, im glad I went, it opened my mind in ways I never thought of, and allowed me to achieve things I never imagined I would. It feels a lifetime ago I went to university and I am actually considering going back to complete another two completely unrelated degree's, ideally one in theoretical astrophysics and the other in electronic/photonic engineering, or similar subjects. They have absolutely no bearing on a career or running my own business, will cost me thousands in tuition fee's, but its just something I want to do.

But to anyone who says at 16 that they know everything and dont need to stay on in education, well everyone else 10+ years or with an education will simply look at you in the same way that you would look at a 5 year old who said the same thing to you!
No offence, but its true... and YOU will be doing the same in 10+ years to a cocky 16 year old regardless of whether you got yourself an education or not. That's just the way life is :)

In other words, they eat and then they regurgitate and we have to eat their shit and pay for this?

Essentially yes. They are professionals (see the word professor in there) and they give us a better understanding of the material. Try taking a C# class with a great professor while your friend teaches it to himself using free resources. Who had the easier time learning?

And also, same here (as Allie), I'll be going to college in a couple years. There's a wealth of skills you gain when you are in college. That material you take in during college means a little more than something that qualifies you to get a 9-5. Some of you guys are being really hypocritical, here.

Education is critically important. You should constantly be learning.
College is just useless brainwashing and programming. Obsolete. Waste of cash and your life in 95%+ cases.
College isn't education?

Learning useless things is a waste of time.

Since when is learning anything useless?

I see it like this, we're here for two reasons.

1. Fun
2. Science (learning/knowledge/etc..)

@moneymaka

Good luck with your plan. Most definitely.

I'm 18, and I'm in college now, but its only because I am unemployed with no means of income.

I recently picked up on the IM world its very fascinating!

I feel I know a fair amount about life also. There's times were I feel I know everything. Even though that is false I still listen to wiser and more experienced people who I my self know can teach me things.

M.O.E

money over everything.

My quick opinions:

1. High School is a necessity for everyone. Gives you some basics.

2. College is not necessary to be successful, BUT it does give people the ability to do things they may want outside of making money.

Though part of being happy is having money, another part is accomplishing goals in life that just don't have a price. Can't deny college often helps complete those goals that are non-profit oriented.

Off topic, but I read the quote first in the OP and thought it was a scientology spam post lol

Mouse college teacher are not teachers - they are tellers!
