Wow... School and College are very outdated :(

The education industry has one of the longest lag times of any industry. Both the construction and education industries have the longest lag times - 50 years.

What is lag time, you ask? Lag time is the time it takes from an idea's inception to the time its accepted as a standard by the industry.

So by the time the school system wakes up and gets the message that they're completely obsolete, most (if not all) of us will have already been through the machine. IF they ever wake up....

You see, in 1903, John D Rockefeller created the General Education Board, which was founded to take financial education out of the school system to - you guessed it - keep the rich supplied with good employees who follow directions and do what they are told.

Want to learn more? Just read Conspiracy of the Rich by Robert Kiyosaki. I read the entire book, and it is incredible. Its going to be in book stores starting in September, so definitely buy a copy if you want to learn why you were taught (by design) by the school system to be a peasant, also known as an employee.

Nothing comes easy bruh. Do not think that your just gonna pick up IM and work one hour a day (in the beginning) and make a fortune. Just because your making money, dosen't mean you know what to do with it!

Most of you kids want things the quick way, though you deny it when someone points that out, and when you come and read forums like BHW and the like, it makes this field seem easy. "This is my ticket OUT of those Fucking grownups power over me" your mind says!

You want the party lifestyle, right? You want FREEDOM, Correct?

You want what you see on tv and youtube, in MTV videos, going out every weekend, chilling with the fam, and finally, getting the chance to gloat in front of your freinds when they look at envy of how YOU get the easy way out (by making money online) while they have to slug it out in college for the long run.

You want to do what YOU want to do, what YOU think is right, not listening to some Old ass uncool ass out of touch with the "NEW GEN XYZ" mindset and lifestyle know it all, right?

Homie, let me be the first to tell you, It aint exactly what your thinking, and I know for an absolute FACT most cats under the age of 21 usually think this way (though you will deny it).

You can go right ahead and skip college. I did. But guess what....

If your working for your self, I can almost garentee you a couple of things;

One. You will end up working WAY MORE HOURS THAN YOU THINK. That means, that in all actually, your freinds will be partying a lot more than you will. They'll be fucking all the hot chicks, while your working on your business.

Two. By the way, this income will NOT be steady for a WHILE, like YEARS, and you will fall on your ass more than a few times, and you may actually lose your socks and end up without a roof over your head.

Three. Oh, and don't think you can just go right ahead and spend that money that you made right away. Need money to make money, right? Also, Most of you guys parents will not approve of what your doing, so some of you can kiss mommy and daddys finacial support away! No way around this one, they want to see a house and car and 2.5 kids first before they'll beleive you. don't let the smile fool you. Good Luck.

There is not one direction you can turn in life that will make it all easier.

College is hard.

So is life without it.

So is life with it.

Not so true these days, lol. Tell that to about 15% of US adults.

Im in my mid 30's and ill give my opinion on this topic.

I say chase your dreams and dont listen to the haters. Today is a much different time that people even my age cant understand fully. I wasted 4 years of my life dicking around in some typical 4-year state college doing nothing but partying and falling asleep in class. What the hell do I care about most of the topics I will be taking there, it was like high school all over again. What a joke.

I ended up going to a 2-year tech school because that was what I was interested in (this had nothing o do with IM but i did learn some basic programming there). I ended up chasing lame jobs with the rest of the sheep. I finally got one that paid me about $600 a week after graduating and I was considered doing "well" (most of my classmates went to work delivering pizzas). After about 6 months of "a real job" I decided that this is no way to spend the next 40 years of my life and something had to change.

90% of the people who take the traditional route are are fucking miserable with their lives. Trust me, I see it every day with the typical corporate stress that my friends deal with. While they deal with this miserable stress I am sleeping in and playing golf or hanging at the beach all day while making most of their weekly salaries in a day. For the record I have been doing this pretty steadily for 7 years, not just quick cash.

All it takes in this world to be successful on your own is intelligence and motivation. It sounds like you have at least the motivation on your side. If you are even thinking this way at 16 I would assume there is some intelligence there also.

If it doesn't work out you can always go back to college when you turn 20 or so. Its not the end of the world.

The way the world works and typical career paths are not the same as they were 20 years ago.... Thank God!

I think people miss the point of college alot of the time. Studying a degree is as much about the skills you learn for a job, as it is about life skills.

Im "technically" qualified. That is i have all my microsoft certifications in Networking + Development(programming) and Cisco and all that jazz. But i still remember my first days trying to get a job. Employers want to see that you can stick it out with 3 years of study. And posses the communication and learning skills that will see you succeed. Anyone can read from a book and pass the micrososft exams. I had a very hard time getting that lucky break at the beginning. Some may say its bullshit employers, and for sure i knew more then all the other University students in my field, but they dont care what you already know, they just want to know that you posses the skills to keep learning on the job.

Not everyone wants to be in IM. And even though i am sort of in it, i still have my day job. And i dont think i would give that up.

For alot of things in life, you will enjoy having a degree. In business or computer science etc. And although it isnt neccessary in IM it will help. Anyone who says otherwise doesnt know what a business degree teaches you. But just like real life, you dont need it to get where you want to be. I know people that are in high places in big business without degrees, but even they say it would have been an easier road with that bit of paper and the knowledge to begin with.

Either way, you can honestly do anything you put your mind to in life.

The only thing that seperate you from where you want to be is correct knowlegde and the application of it!

in the united states, 25% of teenagers don't even finish/graduate high school... now think about that... and i guarantee you that 99% of those 25% who didn't graduate make $10 an hour at the most..

I'm not an adult but my parents who were top students in one the top universities have said school can't get you a good life. Trying to make money (through experience) and learning how to make money (go to school and get a job) are two completely different things. That's coming from my parents! My mother's friend was a "failure" and didn't even graduate high school. But now she's a multi-millionare (in the 10s of millions)! I've met her and she's one of the kindest people you can meet.

They pushed me into a business and money mindset (when before I had a "I'm going to be a scientist" mindset).

School is important because we can survive without doctors, teachers and whatever. That's what most of the "school sucks" people don't get.

BUT what most of the "school is a must" people don't get is that school isn't for everyone. Just because you want to be a 9-5 doctor doesn't mean everyone wants to have a job. I agree that some people truely want to be a doctor, teacher or whatever. But when I look around the people who say "that's what I want my future to be" and the people who ACTUALLY want to be have that kind of future, you can just tell %99.9999999999 are bull-shiting themselves and only %0.0000000001 ACTUALLY, FOR REAL, GENUINELY, NO BS want to become a doctor, teacher or whatever.

You might think having a "guaranteed source of income" aka a job is superior. That's not even true because these days people are getting fired faster than companies going bankrupt. Doing business is as safe as getting a job. If not safer as you have 100% control over your success.

You can't look down at someone just because he wants to go further than you. As long as the person puts all of his effort (through smart thinking and then action) in the goal I can guarantee you that they will get there.

If your a doubter aka hater your probably think all of what I just said was just a opinion from a lack of experience. Well your wrong again because you just ignored my first paragraph where it clearly shows proof to back me up. See what happened? Your so full of yourself that your brain ignores and alters parts of my argument so you can say to yourself "my job is still better than any way of making a living".

Most of the doubters would rather be "100% right about something" (when in fact they aren't) than declare their true goals and dreams then working their asses off to achieve it.

I'm not a dumbass in fact I'm in one of the top high schools in my country. But as learned more about the real life from real successful people I saw MY real goals and dreams.

From what I have learned you should have clear goals that you want to reach, believe in it 100% with no doubt at all and then be willing to do whatever it takes to get there. I know I'll do whatever it takes.

I think for some people the whole social aspect of school fucked them up too. They did not have a good experience. So why in the fuck would they want to go on to College and repeat the whole experience.

Deep down they aren`t really against school or learning.

Social skills are so important. But if you grew up with parents who are fucked and bad examples how do you really learn them. And then school can become a horrifying experience, regardless if you`re smart or not.

So depressed after reading this thread.... Kids, don't skip college because you have "found a cool forum to make money online".

Just give it a shot. If you really hate it or think it's a waste of time, then drop out.. do whatever. I don't personally care. If you think it's a waste of time, be aware that you might regret later not going there. I know that it might be scary that you actually have to do something there and take classes and perhaps even responsibility of your doings but still...try it.

The only stuff that I agree to learn from the school is language and simple maths. Other than that, wtf....you will forget most of the unless stuff soon enough. I learn from chemistry lessons that pure and distilled water is H2O. So what has it got to do with making a living? The education system has wasted our time. Of course we didn't know what we want but I must blame them for not planning well enough. They should teach us practical skills instead of memorizing the entire history of country ABC. They really screwed us. Grade F for them.

I just graduated with BEng there a couple of weeks ago. Yep it's just a piece of paper, but it is something to fall back on. But here (Ireland) we don't have to pay for tuition fees so I feel lucky I guess that I am not 10s of thousands of euro in debt.

I am not going to make a long post....here are my points

1. Education gives you a solid backup....who knows what will be here 10 years from now and if you will be good at it

2. School....especially college takes little time if you are somewhat smart...if you are good enough for IM you should be able to skip classes and cram for the final and pull a good gpa

3. The majority of jobs are not online jobs and many are best learned in a school setting. I mean if you fail at IM in 15 years do you want to go back to school at 35 years old?

Here is my take home point...if you can make it at IM why be a lazy ass and not get a backup plan

Sorry to sound harsh but what the hell is "knowing good things"? Realize you may be able to make good money online but when it falls though you could be screwed. The more degrees you have the more guaranteed salary you have. Get a professional degree and you WILL be making 100K+ a year.

School really isn't THAT hard and serves as a great back-up plan.

People want to become doctors, dentists, or lawyers JUST for the money.

All my friends in my school are such damned tools.

They all want to get into the best colleges and so they can become another doctor or lawyer. To make a living doing your boring 9-5 job. Okay that's cool. They just do it for the money.

You know what else is funny is they try to beef up their applications by joining school sports. For fuck's sake, school sports require 2 hours a day for practice. Time = Money. Use it, don't waste it.

If anything, I do want to go to a good college.

It's all behind me, I got it all planned.
I know a guy who got into Berkeley AND Harvard because he was a businessman.

He had pretty good grades and SAT scores, but when do you ever see a high school businessman?

And he runs an ONLINE business too! It's a website offering tutoring or help into getting accepted to colleges.

Well hey man, I'm gonna replicate his success.

I'll throw up a few professional looking websites, maybe give it a few reviews on ezine so if the reviewers ever check up my website on Google, they will see good reviews, and voila, guaranteed acceptance with 1 hour of work.

That's what's called thinking outside the box and being creative.
