Haha, i had some amount I had collected as a 6-7 year old. My dad told me I should put it in a bank and he would do it for me to keep it safe.

Depends on the person and money. If its small money but no big deal.

I have lent friends money in the past. Most of them pay me back. I have 1 person who hasn't paid me back in over 4 years. I don't do it anymore either.

if a friend wanted money i would make sure it money that just sitting there for rainy day

This is pretty relevant to me.
Gave 40$ to my friend for him to go out with his GF.
He always took so much time to pay and I knew this for a fact and was prepared.
Takes 6 months to pay me 30$.
Then I tell him on a text "Hey bro, if you are not planning to pay me the rest im cool with it, but id rather you just tell me straight away you wont be paying me so I stop pushing the subject and just keep everything cool and never talk about that again. No prob"
He read the mssg and never replied, 3 months after he comes and acts like nothing ever happened.
I might be over sensitive but I took personal offense for him dont giving a shit about my mssg. Felt it like a lack of respect for the friendship.
Oh well...
PS: Its not about the money by the way, I honestly couldnt care less, but its about the lack of respect and not being able to talk to me about it that got me really upset

Do you know what makes friend a real friend? Fighting over the same girl and unpaid loan. If your friendship survive this, then this is the real deal.
But to the original question - yes I give money to friends, without hesitation. Its just money - I can always win more money, but having good people around you? Thats the hard part.

I had a friend ( I've known 45 years now ) who was going through a divorce from hell and really was on the bones of his arse to the extent he was looking at getting a payday loan for £2,500 to sort himself out. I returned an hour later with £3,000 in cash and said he could borrow it from me instead with zero interest.
He borrowed the full £3k and paid me back within 45 days in full.
I have another friend who I have known just as long, I lent £1,600 to to clear a loan he was paying crazy interest on and it took me 4 years to get paid back. This was despite him being a tacher earning £30k+ per year. Needless to say, I wasn't impressed with having to chase him for the money.

Well I actualy lend money to my friends very often and they lend me some anytime I need it. We don't have problem with this and we always return the money we borrowed. My friend have helpped me a lot of times since I'm on college and some of them are working. Never had any problems.

Some tips:
Never give them rest, remind them regulary that you know of the money they owe you and that you expect it, always have a date set when you should get the money.
If they don't have it by the time they should, don't threten, but don't be nice either, just setup a day in the very near future and really remind them of the money, make sure to say you need it, but don't be apologetic, after all, it's your money.
And now you either have the money already, or you get to some (at first light) violence and bang, you goin' to get your money guaranteed.

80% of the times, I had bad experience lending money to people whom I know. I learnt the hard way to say "no". But, sometimes, I still lend money. Although the instances have reduced QUITE a lot compared to the past.

A few friends of me asked to lend some money for our holiday. We are going always as a group on holiday (8-9 people). They don't earn much. I lend a few times money for their tickets/hotel, because I know that they will give it back when they can.
Years ago I lend €1000 to a girl that I knew pretty well. I was 15 years old and she needed it because she had some problems at home. It's my girlfriend nowadays, gold digger confirmed.
I never had problems with it. I only lend money to people who I can trust. I don't care if they give it back in one day or one year. Some people needs more time for a small amount then other people.

I have, I usually give them 5 days grace then the vig starts. Payments plans are fine.
I once had a guy borrow $1200 from me on the promise he would pay $500 every 2 weeks for the next 6 weeks. He missed a payment, I showed up at his house and took the rims(what he borrowed the money for) off his car, and gave him 48hrs to repay the money or I was selling the rims for any amount above the owed debt($500 at that point), magically, he found the money.
So, yeah, I have had no issues lending money to friends and getting it returned.

Like the saying goes, if you lend money to a good friend and if you don't hear back from him, that money was well spent.
