Why don't you simple put a text in paint over the image? It's the same thing, although it's manual not automated by a plugin.. But it takes 10 seconds to write a text on an image in paint.
people use svg to manage that. But if you don't want the extra hassle of coding, just use a wordpress plugin to watermark your images. There are tons out there: watermark reloaded, image watermark, watermark wp image protect, easy watermark, etc
