How can I improve my WordPress SEO without plugins?

To be honest the SEO plugins only help with certain aspects of SEO anyway none of them cover all areas of SEO. But why would you not use something like Yoast to at least help with the things it covers.

The most obvious things you can do without plugins though is optimise content and ensure a good range of keywords are within the content. Ensure your template is well designed and optimised. Then off page link building.

You can get by without plugins if you keep your <title>s and H1s well optimized.

Make sure the first 160 characters of the 1st paragraph summarize the content and it should be pulled as description.

Populate Site Title and Tagline. Site Title will probably be used at the end of each <title> in most themes.

You can use free tools from all around the Internet. I mean, keyword detectors, density checkers etc. They will help you to improve your SEO.

Just publish engaging content with right keywords. But Plugins helps to understand the issues in backend.

If you're asking this right now. I can say for sure that plugins WILL guide you to where you wanna be.

What is your reasoning behind not using a plugin? If you find them expensive, you'll find a lot of group buy kinda websites that sell rank math yearly license for cheap.

Yes you can use HTML formatting.

But the basic elements I mentioned are already pre-made.

Post/page main heading is H1 and it will become <title> if nothing else is specified.

SEO depends on various factor definitely there are many plugins that provides too many features to manage one-page seo which is very important plugins name as Rank math, Yoast etc but there are many other things you can take care like using only fast optimised SEO friendly themes, Make sure your landing pages content are good enough to hold someone also write SEO friendly content, do not use duplicate content as google does not work like it definitely off-page SEO is also important etc

Plugins will not help you much in improving your SEO game. However, they are very good at upselling their premium plans. Even getting a premium plan of SEO plugin will not help you much. It will make everything a bit easier when doing on-page SEO. They offer some types of schemas like product pages and so on.

You can tick all recommendations of SEO plugins and this will not guarantee any rankings at all. For initial publication and a good start, these might be good recommendations.

A lot of tools these plugins have to offer are just gimmicks. You have to remember they are competing with each other so they have to offer something new or promise something big.

You should focus on optimizing your content. I don't even need to mention that your content must be good and fulfill the expectations of people looking for this information. Include a table of contents, and add FAQs. Make your post valuable info and a good user experience.

To optimize your content, you can use such tools as SurferSEO, but once again, that won't guarantee you good rankings. It takes time and effort. You will need to build some backlinks too.

Also, don't forget to keep updating your content; that also helps a lot. When I look back at my content from 2 years ago, I'm surprised that it was doing so well. There's always room for improvement.

If you don't want to use SurferSEO or it's still too much of an investment, you can do everything yourself when optimizing content. It will take much more time and manual work, but you'll learn a lot.

A while ago, I did a very informative Webinar with the co-founder of SurferSEO. He shared a lot of great info on how you can optimize your content even without using this tool. It's a great 80/20 approach to SEO. If you have time you can check it. And I'm not affiliated in any way with these companies, I left Hostinger a while back. I thought this info would help you.

In my case, I'm using Elementor and it's a bit heavy. However, with WP-Rocket and Imagify you can get up to 100 points on both Google Page Speed Insights. We recommend recommending the above plugin.

You can't. Please check out the SEO Framework Plugin as it's very lightweight to use and it's PERFECT for indexing.
No other plugins are needed.
