i am trying to update the wordpress version to latest version(automatic update) but when i click the update, new page doesn't load and its not being updated.. what may be the problem..?

One question.

If you buy a domain and hosting and then set up a wordpress blog on it, can you connect it with Wordpress.com reader so that others can like your posts, follow you and get notifications from you?

Thanks in advance!

If anybody is reading this in future, I would like to say that I figured it out.
All you need to do to connect your self-hosted blog with wordpress.com is to install a plugin called Jetpack.
People can then like, follow your blog, receive notifications and much more ;)

Hi BHW, I am not very active on forums but I follow you every day, and I want to repay for everything I received from this forum and it's members.

I have noticed that many users here are struggling with WordPress and that is why I want to offer my help in this topic. I have used WordPress for a very long time and I believe I can help many of you.
Feel free to ask questions about anything, styling, hosting, domains, plugins, themes, optimization etc.

Looking forward to helping you with your WordPress issues.

Hey, Ive just started out on wordpress. I haven't bought any packages but I paid to own the domain through Wordpress itself... I get about 1000 views a day, and I'm currently using adfly just wondering how I would go about adding their web entry script to my blog?

On the adfly forum its says to create a text widget and paste the script into the widget i do this and this is displayed on my sidebar on the homepage ( which I do not want )

Any way I can get rid of this? and successfully put this script on my site?

Thanks.

Please help I have this issue with my new wordpress site. I need to associate all the buddypress component and pages with my wordpress pages but the "activate" page is missing in my wordpress. How do i resolve this? Pleeeeese!

Hi,

Maybe you can help me with the following.

My WP Blog is extremely slow. Page load is slow and sometimes I also get a 500 Internal Server error (for example when activitang a plugin or updating a page/post)

My settings are as follows:

- Latest version of WP with BP

- To optimize speed I installed: W3 Total Cache / WP-Optimize / jQuery Lazy Load / Smush.it

- Hosting from Dreamhost (shared)

The blog doesn't have any users (well 5) and hardly any posts (3).

I've tried everything but not sure where I'm going wrong...

Lots of plugins can affect the speed. Try to deactivate some of them and see if your site will be faster. Also, try to change the theme to see if there are speed improvements.

What error do you get? Most probably file permission problem, not caused by the wordpress it self.

hello

few days ago i updated wp to last version (3.6.1)

and now i cant upload images

can you help me?

best

George

Looks like you over killed it.. Do not use plugins unnecessarily. It doesn't help atall. w3 total cache sucks big time. never heard of wp-optimize before, so most probably that sucks too. Also check that jQuery is not being loaded twice. That can slowdown the load and create errors.

You just have to create the Activate page manually and then select it in the settings.
You're not getting what i was trying to explan. when a new user sign up they are sent an activation email by wordpress to verify their subscription, I noticed that the link being sent to new user's email contains an activation code that must be verified on a page named "activation". When I first installed version 3.6.1 version of wordpress this page was there by default and users' account activation process works fine, as soon i Installed the new version this page was no longer available. i hope someone with an expirience in wordpress will understand me. I'm not a coder in anyway I need help please. This and other one issue issue are giving me a serious headache. The other issue is the about buddypress refering to single person as "their" in the activity page instead of "his/her".

I have a question for the WP Multi Site / Multi Network guys.

I have a WordPress installation that has a database that's about 2.2GB. The network of sites is just under 500 domains. I would say 35-40 of them are websites that get 1000-4000 unique visitors a week.

To the Mu power/super users out there, what is your advice for optimizing your stack for performance. I am not using AWS yet, but it maybe an option in the future.

As far as hardware goes, 8 core w. 16GB of RAM is what I'm working with right now. Apache/Mysql/Varnish. Front end is snappy but I am trying to figure out why WP core loads slow in the dashboard. I've been working on optimizing apache and mysql and shaved off a few seconds on the load. But I'm still not getting the response times I want.

What would you recommend on a server this size to improve load time? I am considering fire up a separate instance for the db, but what should I use for db caching?

I've used hostgator in the past - do you know if there's anything wrong with them in terms of security or up time? Do you recommend anyone else? If so, why?

Hostgator has always been pretty good ITO security and uptime. One other hosting service ITO security and uptime is godaddy. But godaddy has other problems and HG has not been up to the standard recently. So choose them wisely.
