Hi mate,

i have a bit of a problem. I am WP designer and had a great idea for an app.
its a simple android gallery that takes images from xml file.

the best gallery is next gen galery. but creating xml with tags, categories and urls by image sitemaps just doesnt work.
any ideas for an xml from next gen gallery?

Hey, I don't have experience in exporting gallery, but try with this plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/catablog/

Does not display on what page? If you mean - no category in the menu - you have to add it yourself.

Go to Appearance - Menus - Create menu, add items to it and then assign it to the position you want. If you are stuck in the process, just post here what step are you on and I'll help you.

I got a WP theme that includes a newsletter function that is supposed to send me the readers mail and name when they fill out the form. The code is made to be edited for a Aweber account as you clearly can see below, do you know an free alternative I can use instead that will provide a code that fits?

This is a very useful thread. Thank you for starting it! Hope it grows long and prosperous.

My question is about WP plugins for custom post types/taxonomies/custom fields per post type.

I have seen many plugins for this. Some paid and some free. My question is which one is truly the most useful and easiest to rollout.

Example uses I am interested in: To create some post types for real estate listings, nutritional product reviews, and music/dj mix reviews. There are so many of these plugins that seem to work well I just don't know which is the best and cleanest.

Ideally, I would want to create a post type, and have the necessary meta boxes prepared just for that post type. So a review could have predetermined checkboxes for certain features, and a date picker for RE listings. There would also be taxonomies that would have sub-categories. Like a taxonomy would be 'Listings' and then sub categories apartments or houses.

Perhaps you could recommend a few to narrow down my search to.

So, do you need newsletter plugin or just the wayy to collect emails from your visitors?

The plugin I guess, well I'm quite new to wordpress so I'm not sure. I got a widget on my site that says enter email etc I want that information to be sent to me, how do I do this? Cheers

Install Contact Form 7 plugin, create form you want, and then use text widget and form shortcode to display form on the website. That way you can simply customize fields you need, and data will be sent to the email you provide.

Do I have to make a new "widget" that the readers will have to fill their information in? Because I really like my current one and I doubt that I can recreate it.

Yes, you would have to make new widget that would not look the same. Hmm, and did you try using Aweber' I never used it so I can give you any advice on that, I do not know it's functions. But I know it's used for marketing.
 
Hi and thanks for answering all these questions! I have just installed an SSL on my main domain. Do I install a WP installation to it? Will it switch to a secure connection only when it needs to? Sorry for sounding dumb but it's hard to phrase these questions the right way. Thanks again

I did not give you the whole theme, just the files that needed to be changed. You can just replace the files with the current ones in your theme directory.
