Woocommerce plugin to Shopify.

I have a store on Woocommerce and will be switching to Shopify. Is there anyway to migrate the plugins from Woocommerce to Shopify and use them there ?

Yeah, that's not possible. Shopify is a thing of its own with their own plugins or as they call it "apps". Some paid, some free...just like WP plugins. I use Woocommerce and would never switch to Shopify. I tried Shopify's free trial about a year ago to check it out and was like, wtf is this?

Why would you never switch ? I'm still hanging out there because they got a 90-day free trial and 24/7 live support chat.

If you are talking about shopify support chat, seriously forget it. Most of them dont even know any stuff and still redirect you to any App. Stay with woo if you are used to it

Nah never used Woocommerce before. Any ideas why I should ?

Mentioned this earlier in another post, but with Woocommerce and WP you have full control and a ton of flexibility over everything. And you also own everything.

Shopify is like renting a store since they host all of your content including any apps you use for your store. But it's a great service for anyone to easily setup and manage a store and start selling. I tried their 30 day trial about a year ago and didn't care for anything about it other than how simple it is.

They can't beat Woo and WP though, but I would suggest people to go with Shopify. I mean you can make great money with both, so it's just about preference and needs.

In forums and groups, I often see people complaining that their Shopify stores gets shutdown for one reason or another, namely dropshippers. If you own everything with Woo and WP then will that never happen ?

Also for payment processors, I hear with Shopify if your Stripe or Shopify Payments gets cancelled or banned or such.. for whatever reason, your Shopify store will also get shutdown. What's the situation like over at Woo and WP ?

Also I how knowledgeable should you be coding-wise to use Woo/WP ? One thing I like about Shopify for sure is that you can have a complete store up and running within a few hours.

I use the self-hosted version of WP that you download from wordpress.org and upload to your site so it can't shutdown (as long as you're not nefarious). I've never used their hosted version (wordpress.com), but there is nothing illegal about dropshipping so they can't just shutdown your store for no reason unless you are selling replicas, something illegal or copyright protected, etc.

For the self-hosted version you do have to create a database with your host and add that info to your WP config file though. But you don't need to know code, no. There's plenty of great plugins, but you have to keep in mind you might have to pay for the premium version of a plugin to get some added features.

With payment processors the risk is the same. Stripe, Paypal and Shopify Payments just don't like dropshippers.

I would recommend anyone not familiar with WP to just use Shopify because it's quick and easy. You can always check out WP in your spare time. Me? I started using WP 10 years ago for landing pages before I learned HTML and CSS.
 
Sounds like I ain't switching any time soon. But would definitely consider it soon enough.

I've been thinking about this as I've been building affiliate sites on WP for the last couple of years without making great money, So got into DP recently and went with the 90 free trial, I've built about 5 one product stores without much success yet.

The thing with Shopify is the product pages are so basic meh, as I've been using Thrive architect in WP. So I might try Woocommerce. What other apps would I need? is Woocommerce the payment gateway? Is it just as secure when hosting on shared hosting with an SSL?

Any pointers much appreciated
