Hi

One of my friend decided to target multi country (all) option in the webmaster console in targeting country section. But he is scared of getting his rankings pushed down for the country now he is ranking.

How to target worldwide without affecting the rankings that he have right now?

Thanks

Bumping the thread, just to know to get some insights.

Are you selling something that has any reason to be specific to one country/region? Unless you're advertising a dentist or something that actually has a reason to be specific to one reason, you're fine.

There was a similar question the other day:
https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/how-to-rank-a-site-in-both-us-uk-and-ca.987992/#post-10574016

Also, I somehow doubt that your rankings are really going to depend that much on what you tell Webmaster Tools. "Hey, Google, pls rank me in the USA k thx." What you tell Webmaster Tools is going to be pretty negligible compared to your site's actual content (e.g., what language it's in), what kind of backlinks you have, if you have a geotargeted domain extension (.de, .co.uk, etc), etc.

Thanks Mathew. Appreciate it.
