Why is everyone using skype?

You do not need a Webcam or Mic, if you just want to Instant Message.
If you sign up, just be wary of joining too many groups (most of them are a waste of time and are full of clowns), and don't post you Skype ID publicly on BHW unless you want to receive offers from clowns and scammers.
 
I just use it as a messenger mainly, with the occasional phonecall (non video - no one wants to see an IM'er in his dressing gown in the middle of the day lol).

You can share your screen too which is a great feature for showing/viewing work.
 
I still don't understand too, since I know Internet Marketing I use my skype again.
Because more people in Internet Marketing use it
 
A lot of Warez industry companies use icq instead since it's safer

As the other members here have told you, most people here use Skype as an instant messenger, so you don't need to worry about a microphone or a webcam. Not once have I ever received a voice chat or video call request on Skype, so you don't have to worry about it, anyway.

Although you'll probably receive plenty of asinine messages such as:

  • "How much money do you make"?
  • "Can you teach me how to make money"?
and my favourite:

  • "I'm guy looking for friends"

It is much easier sometimes to talk/write on skype than waiting for the response in email.Most of the time on skype you solve things under 5 minutes what would take about 10 emails.

Agreed with this statement.
I am still unable to install Skype on windows XP platform, but for my client sake I did on mobile to have conversation on the ongoing work. I don't have friends or someone to chat with them on skype.

Oh, I hate those messages! I recently received a message from some joker I had never spoken to on Skype who kept trying to sell me his websites for $800 even after I told him I wasn't interested. "No man, plise! I need much money to make".
 
Bcz, I love it. That's easy and free video call too. And then, google can't read anything (Images, Videos, Report Files).

cause its easy and with cool premium features, i got USA skype phone number which has helped me alot and its cheap aswell

 I order a service put my skype on their checkout form, and get spammed forever.

 
Screw Skype, it's the biggest timewaster... I've found a solution though:

1. Don't give your Skype id to anyone but the most important contacts
2. Always lurk in offline or do not disturb mode
3. Don't make it start on windows startup

Otherwise... Say goodbye to your productivity
 
It's just convenient I guess. You don't need a webcam/mic for it, though. Everyone uses it to chat (IM).
