Why I think Engagement Groups suck

I haven't seen anyone else say this, so I'm just gonna come out and say it.

I decided to give engagement groups a shot about 2 weeks ago, hoping it would be able to take my account to the next level, and I've seen zero increase in post reach. I am currently in two of the popular 80k+ groups and one 40k+ group, but I don't want to name names.

It may just be that my niche is incompatible w/most of the accounts in the group, as I am an animals account, and most of the accounts are things like cars, body building, memes, and fashion... I don't know. If you saw my previous post on the Question about the Power of Likes on Instagram post, you already know my opinion on the power of lots of unrelated niche accounts liking posts... so that might be it.

After noticing no results for nearly two weeks, participating in multiple rounds every day in all three groups, I just decided to look into some of the accounts that people were using to engage with. Again, I'm not going to name names or groups, but of the first 5 engaging accounts I looked into, 3 of them were complete garbage with nearly all fake followers... I mean accounts with 200k followers that were getting less than 1k likes / post. I don't know if this is representative of the other two groups I'm in, or even of every round in the group I inspected, but given that I've seen no results I'm not going to bother to investigate it further.

It could be that my account just does so well that I'm not noticing any improvement, and that for people who get 10% of the engagement that I do it does manage to have a noticeable effect... that I don't know.

It could also be that IG has recently caught on to these groups and adjusted accordingly, and that people who swear by these groups did in fact receive benefits, but since they haven't stopped using them recently to test their continued effect, they are unaware that they no longer do anything.

In fact the only thing I have noticed change is that my followers are now taking screenshots of my like history to mock the random shit I have been liking, and posting them on Instagram and twitter.

All that being said, if anyone is aware of a high end animal related group for legit accounts that get 10k likes / 1k comments per post, I'm willing to give it another shot... but as of now these groups are dead to me.

Thoughts?

I've had the same experience. I stopped using them and only noticed the accounts that would also participate in the drops missing in a posts likes list, give or take 100-150 likes if i couldn't make a drop. I do think instagram has changed something as my follow has dropped considerably well before i stopped with the groups, maybe this has made some effect on my account too? I'm hoping that for the moment, normal, slow, random liking might be better approach. I don't know any decent engagement accounts other than the niches you already mentioned!

I don't like engagement groups. I didn't include it in my eBook. I think it's essentially the same as buying fake likes. Some people I'm sure see results in it, it definitely could be worth your time, but I think there are better ways to grow. That's my two cents.

then what do you think is the best way to increase your followers? I'm consistently getting 100 - 200 a day even after 10k followers..

Your account might be flagged or whatever?

I know 1 group you're in and that one is not fake at all. I do see that established accounts are more difficult to grow nowadays. New accounts are easy peasy, they take off like madness with these groups.

Might be the niche as well, haven't seen an animal account go hard lately.

Engagement groups only do 1 thing. Get you likes and/or comments. With the likes, you should get to the top of your finely picked hashtags. Now, don't expect likes to get you to 1M post hashtags, or the more popular ones. That is nonsense.

So, if you look at engagement groups only getting you to the top of your quality chosen hashtags, then it does its job. If you want to hit explore page or the top of #animals tag, forget about it, unless the account was almost there.

As far as losing likes/engagement and followers on your accounts, that is not the engagement groups. It's Instagram. I have experienced this across multiple niches with many accounts that I handle. They were losing likes/followers daily for the past 3 weeks, some as last as last week, and it had nothing to do with being in an engagement group, posting times, or different photos. These accounts post methodically at the same times, same hashtags, same niche photos for the pertaining account. And, by the way, all photos are originals, not copies or "regrammed" to each account. IG algorithm is wrecking havoc.

Get into a 100k+ engagement group and you will see the difference

This is what I get when I click on your profile "This member limits who may view their full profile.". Not sure I would buy from someone who wants to hide stuff about himself from potential buyers.

I've always thought it was rather pointless. Sure you will get some comments and likes but its not like those comments and likes are residual.

I've been a big proponent of engagement groups in the past, but I haven't used them since the summer. I think they can work in some instances with some accounts, but otherwise are massively overrated. As @VapeMonkey stated, they can be nice for brand new accounts, but have limited if any effect on more established accounts.

I suspect, but cannot prove, that receiving a ton of likes from pages not related to your niche can even be harmful after a while. At least for some pages, probably not every single one. I had a page over 100k that used these groups for months, one day engagement halved and I started going into the red when it came to followers gained. Could be a coincidence, but on the flip side, the gains that people get while using engagement groups could be a coincidence too and not related to the use of these groups.

Personally, I think likes from big pages within your niche is far more powerful than any engagement group.

I think you have to provide quality content into your account.

I see lately on facebook, twitter and instagram.
Many people troll pure spam without providing benefit to the visitor.
And not in place.
So that was disturbing eyes and ignored

Do you post right before rounds?

Honestly, I haven't seen you in rounds much especially the past 7 days. Given that you just started 2 weeks ago, then there's not much activity from your side.

Probably because you don't post several times daily, so it's pretty pointless for you to participate anyway.

One of the 80k groups you're in just started rounds less than 2 weeks ago lol. The rounds there are still pretty smallish.

There's bound to be accounts that barely make the grade since there's so many, but who am I to judge

If you're botting, your follow history is gonna be crap too

Long story short, it still works for me. >10% engagement for my last post I dropped in a big round 2 days ago. Stopped follow/unfollow when I hit 100k too.

It's not about the likes and comments, but increasing your chances of hitting Explore.

Honestly, it's not worth it but that's just my personal opinion. The "engagement" are fake and hence it will not have any considerable sustainable usefulness. Rather spend time and effort learning how to get natural engagement.

One way to grow insta followers+likes is buy some shoutouts. A lot of insta pages are selling shoutouts. Find the accounts related to your niche and contact them. This way engagement will be real.

I've seen a page grow from nothing to getting 5-6000 likes per photo.
