Whoa, you were being for real. How cool!

I quit a job once and then have to go back for the past 2 years.

Good income, vacation, and the main reason why I stay is medical and I had a great schedule for I spend time with my daughter. Almost quit a few times, but the schedule other companies gave did not fit in my schedule with my daughter

Now it is one of the worst jobs i ever had. I really feel like a slave,

I know they are fucking with me, etc, not going to say why,

The latest messing with me, work all three shifts in a week, that means morning, afternoon and night. When i do get a day off is because to get ready for the next shift. So i have been sleeping alot

So since they took my schedule away, it is time for me to quit. I got a few interviews up

I do have money save from investments and im

They're minted like normal coins, but the first to get cut are the dies, which get carved first. I'll have to make a journey thread to showcase: from concept sketch to design to draft to cad to cam to machining.

The advantage is if you start young like I did. I'm still in high school and I don't give a fk about school so I have a lot of time to spend on IM when I'm in boarding school. I am making good amounts of money, but still I am looking forward to go to job in any case that my biz goes to shit as it's nothing stable. What I wanna say here is that you have to get as much as possible out of ''corporate slavery'', you might meet people there who have same ideas and you could open company with them or you might even sell your own stuff to clients around the company. Definitely there are many positive things when it comes to 9-5 aside from stability which is main one.

What I wanna say here is that it's nothing wrong to go back to 9-5, heck it even can be positive because thinking of working for like 600-800€/month (I'm from Slovenia) pushes me even more to work harder.

Last thing that I will say to you bro. Don't worry, go to 9-5, get your finances stable, do IM on side and ''regroup''. I would never put my bet on living off IM anyways if I didn't had a company registered with users because we all know that websites fall, fb ads campaigns fall, social accts get locked etc. it's wild west for sure

fuck that.
Im working on building a few more businesses that can be mostly automated.
Gotta have a diverse income streams cuz there are no guarantees that your business will last.

My personal advice...

Find a job to start earning steady income. Do the SEO stuff on the side BUT, be more selective in your clients...

Attract only those who are willing to pay YOU more. That's right. Charge a premium because you are badass at what you do and you ARE worth it. If they don't have the budget, you don't do it. Turn it down.

Spend more time on quality higher paying clients, and less time on lower dollars / headache clients. Cut the number of clients while keeping same revenue or more.

Bottom line...

Pivot your business so you now cater to a specific type of client.

Just my own opinion.

Good luck!

Im not sure but I thinl @Sherbert Hoover already had a similar experience. Maybe he has some thoughts on this.

Edit : just saw he has already replied. Sorry buddy for the uncessary tag.

I'm a software developer in your standard 9-5 job and it's not really that bad. I get a steady income of few kilo-€'s a month and there's no stress here. But maybe trying a freelancing career or something would be even more interesting.

Dudes, really, it kind of pisses me really on atm...

Getting SEO clients? 90% of them are still stuck in GSA 10trillion bullshit links, when top 20 are covered with DA30/ UR15/DR45+ site..

Getting PPC clients? "Nah, we dont like ads. Nobody clicks on them"...

Doing webdesign? Sure nothing for me..

So, it was 2012. It was like my 6th IT company. same shit, same work, better coworkers, better salary. But doing IT, you always are made felt like you are dirt under some shoes.

My ex company that time was starting outsourcing. Internal climate got worse and worse, nobody was safe.

My father died in 2012 too. And I couldnt stand it anymore. I quit. In summer.

Lived for many years on the affiliate world of amazon and some others copper nickels (https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/made-600-000-revenue-for-amazon-now-i-quit.968526/)

I got some clients over the years, mostly seo, linkbuilding. Its kind of ok. But you dont grow. And usually, they never got money for a ferrari but want to drive Formula 1...

So, I went through this year. Checked all sites. CHecked all clients. Checked markets for self employed sole propietors in .de for seo and sea. it's insane SEO competiton, insane CPC prices and the journey to find some GOOD clients is taking like too much time. maybe the approach aint right, maybe I lack experience in sales, sure.

But I got my thinking: Is this 60 - 70 hours work week for a part time salary worth it? Do I need to spend that much overtime to build my affiliate site, just to have some safeguards, if there are no paying clients? Do I pump all time into customer aquisition? Or maybe money?

Well, let's start looking for jobs!

So I spamblasted my resume to like 300 jobs all accross german speaking europe the last 3 moths . .ch .at .de - (mean time for reaction is like 6-8 weeks, so I should be getting a lot of calls the next weeks)
It was and is an interesting ride. Many phone calls, I was tempted to just hang up. But a few gems were found, where I am still in contact with. Job stuff here in .de and .ch are so slow...

Let's see where it goes.

But, I just hope to be working again more on the stuff I'm fucking good (I usually ask employers to give me a site to demo my skills when they show interest in me and I like the vacancy).
And to be doing affiliate stuff just for spare change, retirement funds or as a hobby again.

Oh, and about PPC: I really hope to find some "Junior" place there, with some good colleagues to share knowledge grow into more experience. It's near impossible to find clients above the 4-digits monthly PPC budget. why? cause agency got them.. and growing experience in PPC, you first need services or products, which in SEO are crazy expensive to promote..

How about you? Anyone of you doing IM for many years and than returned to the matrix?

I went back to the corporate world in July after a good two year pyjama stint as a freelance financial content writer. I'm now the Finance Director of a medium sized company in London and IM is just a hobby. There's fuck all on TV and I don't play video games either.

Earned good money in fulltime IM, but missed wearing my three piece suits, the camaraderie of the corporate world and all the pretty office girls too!

Content writing and IM, is now a part time hobby and I've never been happier. Full time IM, isn't everyone's cup of tea. I often found it pretty isolating.

well, that's kind of my plan.

I am 200% sure some cock sucking ass fucking employers want to force me to quit my sidejob via contract.
not i 1000 years of Gandalf I will do that.

however, plan is like:

get high paying job in SEO or Medium Paying in SEM.
Move away from Da Ghetto Part of Germoney.
Find some great place. Work for some time. Do IM on the side as a hobby, max 10 hours a week.

As the process is in motion, atm I am just "downsizing" al lot of old projects I tried over the last years.

A year back, I was in deep debts. My savings was about to be extinguished. I had no choice but to take up a job. The only thing that stopped me was the low pay I would get for my basic education. So, I started writing content full time. I had many years of experience writing content in the past. I was doing well but other IM things took off and I stopped. I was not sure how my return would treat me. But, fortunately within a year, I am almost close to clearing my debts. I guess I will be fully debt free in almost 12 years for the first time. ( hopefully next month)

Only after I quit my job I realized how much I was making for my boss. So no, never. I can make the same money in less time, and when I want.
Why should I leave that?

I have nightmares where I go back to work in an office.
I've been living of my websites for the last 3 or 4 years and I'm 100% sure I'll never go back to work for someone else. I currently work only 30 minutes a day, from home, and I earn more than any paid job can provide. My goal now is to take those 30 minutes into 0 minutes.
Being a freelancer is hard, I wouldn't recommend it. I would recommend being an entrepreneur. Don't work hard, work smart. Outsourcing, automatization, McDonaldization. Fixed prices, quick sales. No clients, only customers.

Sir teach me McDonaldization, ty.

I work 8:30 - 5:00 as an accountant at a University in the U.S. Decent pay, great benefits. The great part about being employed in academia is that the overwhelming majority of staff are incompetent and take days to do tasks that should take 15 minutes. I do *maybe* an hour of work per day. This allows me to work on my affiliate sites during the day.

Could I quit the 8:30 - 5:00? Yeah, probably. But the extra pay, retirement benefits, and ability to double-dip my earnings make it worth having to go to the office M-F. It's going to allow me to retire much, much earlier than if I solely worked either as an accountant or doing affiliate stuff. Plus, the 8:30 - 5:00 is a hedge against wonderful updates like Fred/Amazon fee structures, which reduced my earnings by around 70% :P

This is the scary part. At a drop of an update, everything could be gone. Everyone says to diversify, but most don't. The key to the day job, is finding something you can get paid decently, while still not having to do very much. Or like in my case, I load up machines, and they do the work. While I wait, I'm idling, so I get online and do whatever I want. Most of my time has been providing humor in the bhw lounge, but I'm gearing up to be a little more productive.
