I was curious who among us has the site with the most backlinks? I am just starting a site and building backlinks somewhat slowly but wanted to know how many other people have accumulated and how many they are adding a day, and if these sites that have a whole lot of them viewed favorably by google. I am working on my main whitehat site now, so I am looking at the long term building about 20 links a day. But if I doubled that and did 40 a day would that raise a flag with google???

It seems that the #1 website google.com has over 650,000 backlinks(!!!)

Well I have had about 2,000 at max on one of my sites, but I haven't really used anything software or bot related to help make the process of getting backlinks a bit easier. I'm working on creating them though.

Thanks Italian Hawk, for giving me an intelligent reply. Yeah I've been weary about using any software or bots to add links for my main site because don't want to get sand boxed by google. I will prob try one of those manual submission services offered on here, in addition to my own building.

I've had minimal success. I tried some of the methods of finding ******** blogs and even ******** blogs with PR, but for some reason they never seem to show up in my backlinks. I think I'm going to work a bit with social bookmarking for backlinks. I know there are some members here with tens even hundreds of thousands of backlinks though.

Most of my sites only have a couple of 100 backlinks. I have needed to be in the 1000's. high quality backlinks mean you don'y need that many.

I've had a problem with google only indexing my main page and not my 300+ other sub pages. So I've used digg to individually bookmark every subdomain page on my site to see if that will help get them indexed faster--I will post results here.

Define "high quality" please, im curious to your theory.

A low quality backlink is something like a forum signature or blog comment. They don't hold much weight with Google.

A little true the post above. I generally only go for links that are PR5 and above. This way i get the most productivity for my time.

For your info, Angela's links are mostly from high PR forum profiles (Bio, Sig, etc) and they work extremely well.

1,000 quality backlinks mostly at PR3-5.... Another with 300 quality backlinks which are more relevant which is performing much better than the first.

I guess relevancy is vital when link building.. Duh!!!

Pretty much it comes down to three things. The quality of the backlinks you have and the quantity. Also, your keywords matter. So in the end it's not about who has the most backlinks, but who ranks well in Google.
