Hi BHW,

So i own an e-commerce shop (fishing lure theme), roughly 12 products with 20+ color variations for each product, so not much of place to insert a lot of text. So far what i have done, was, did on page seo, did alt texts on all images, added an article on homepage and bought a few backlinks from 2 relevant blogs.

What would be the best linkbuilding strategy right now to boost my seo rankings, im currently sitting on 11th position for my desired keyword avg monthly searches 1k+. Also worth to mention that it's a local e-commerce shop in my country, non english, 2-3million people living there.

Hi, I have helped dozens of ecommerce companies with SEO during past 8 years.
Here is what you can implement to get maximum benefit from organic traffic.

Focus on improving your on-page/ technical factors first:-

1) Target keywords that are specific and not generic (eg. "face serum" vs "Buy anti aging face serum for oily skin"

2) Add some text related to targeted keyword to category pages, optimize that text with PoP or similar tools

3) Make your website url structure friendly for both Bots and Users (eg. "www.domian.com/product" vs www.domain.com/category/product")

4) make sure your core web vitals are well optimized. I mean they should be better than your competitors

5) create blog post silos (with inter linking) for each category page using googles PAA queries

6) add these following schemas to all product pages (do not use tools)
- Product schema
- Review schema

7) last but not least -- focus on building your brand online (build citations, get brand mentions from high authority websites, add information about team on website, add author boxes for blog posts etc..)

Ps - Let me know if you have further queries regarding the points I have mentioned. Please do not PM me, I would rather help you out (and others) on this thread.

You’re on the right track! I’d add local backlinks (blogs, forums, clubs), optimize your Google Business Profile, and create some niche blog posts to support your products.

A few solid links could get you to page 1.

ur base setup looks clean. now to push past page 2, go for authority links in niche forums and local directories. try unlinked brand mentions and reach out for simple exchanges or roundups. also test internal link boost with long tail support pages like guides or comparison posts, even if short. small market like that moves with less force.

You're already on the right track! For local ecom, I’d focus on niche edits from local blogs, citations in country-specific directories, and maybe a small PR push. Also, consider adding internal blog posts targeting long-tail variations.

It boosts authority without needing heavy content on product pages.

You’re on the right track with your efforts so far (on-page SEO, alt texts, content, and backlinks), but it sounds like you're looking for a more aggressive link-building strategy to push you higher up the rankings and take advantage of that 1k+ monthly search volume

White Hat SEO for e-commerce means using safe methods like quality content, proper keywords, fast site speed, mobile-friendly design, and real backlinks to improve search rankings.

I think that, You're on the right track. Now focus on getting local backlinks (directories, local blogs, news sites), build citations, and do some niche edits or guest posts in your industry. Also try getting brand mentions and a few more quality backlinks to push from 11 to top 5. You try to keep content fresh too.

Focus on local citations, niche forums, and user-generated content to build relevant backlinks and boost local SEO.

Focus on local backlinks, niche forums, and adding blog content. Use internal links and submit to local directories. Build links slowly with good quality to move up in rankings.

Get natural backlinks by joining fishing forums, guest posting on niche blogs, partnering with local clubs, and asking influencers or customers to link to your shop.

You're on the right way, here are my insights for you. Along with the main keyword, find the long tails that can be ranked easily with the right content.

The easiest way to make your next move is to analyze your competitors, including the links they built, site structure, keyword usage on the website, and everything.

I had an ecommerce compresion sock business and this is what worked for me -

  • Optimize Product Pages: Write unique, detailed descriptions for each product (aim for 300-500 words). Include customer pain points and benefits, plus relevant keywords naturally. Add alt text to images with descriptive phrases like “red leather jacket for women” to help Google understand visuals.
  • Blog Content: Create helpful blog posts targeting long-tail keywords your audience searches, like “how to style winter boots” if you sell footwear. Link these posts to product or category pages to drive traffic and help indexing. Keep posts meaty, around 800-1500 words.
  • Internal Linking: Link related products and categories from your homepage and blog posts. For example, a “Top Picks” section on your homepage can guide Google to crawl deeper pages. It also keeps visitors browsing longer.
  • Site Speed & Mobile: Use tools like Google PageSpeed Insights to check load times. Compress images and enable caching—fast sites rank better. Make sure your site’s mobile-friendly since most shoppers browse on phones.
  • Customer Reviews: Encourage reviews on product pages. They add fresh, user-generated content that Google loves, plus they build trust. Respond to reviews to keep things active. I used Loox app on shopify for this
