ExpiredDomains.net, you can search the database for expired, deleted and marketplace domains pending expiration. Depending on your needs or expertise, this is a great place to start.
 
There are a few tools on the market for finding expired domains. Spamzilla.io has the most data per domain to seriously speed up the spam checking process ;)
 
There is a host of tools out there; it depends on your mastery of those tools and then do a comparative analysis.

I would prefer ExpiredDomains.net, Its powerful search tools and databases to utilize and create your own private network of websites for profit.

Domain hunter gatherer is a good one, I've used it with ahrefs and a custom script. Some people like to use scrapebox instead. Whatever tool you choose you'll most likely have to "pair it" with a backlink analyzer like ahrefs/majestic/MOZ/etc in order to filter the good domains.
