I would like to say Ahrefs, but with the new restrictions, I barely use it. I'm not going to spend hundreds of dollars for that little extra they offer. Over the time I've not seen a great improvement on my strategy thanks to using them. So I barely use it to overcheck what I already know thanks to:
1. Mangool's Keyword Finder: my daily driver for keyword research for every single article that must be written in my sites. They are not best but they are fast.
2. Moz/Majestic: my daily driver to fast check incoming links. What one doesn't have, the other does, so a mix of the two give me a great insight.
Semrush: don't ask me why, but except for checking the competence keyword profile I barely use it. I don't know for US queries, but in my country it has been failing massively. Two years ago I was using it as my daily driver, and now I'm about to ditch my subscription. For a keyword "magic" research I do on SEMRush, I find on Mangools or even Keyword Tool, 2 or 3 times more viable keywords on average. And for links, pure s**t. As I say, maybe on other countries it works great, but on mine is a total disaster.
Conclusion: there are no better tools. Try them all (use a Group Buy or something like that to test them), do many researchs with all them at once, and get your own conclusions for your own country
