I would suggest Namecheap for domain, it's really cheap and easy, and Vultr for hosting, with all the 1-click app installers.

Hostgator gets re-sold every week it seems. Support is wrong about 60% of the time. They should flip burgers... Lately I HATE namecheap. Lost so many domains by their nonsense. They turned off support for a while. I am the dissenting view. They suck. Will never use again.
