Which free wordpress plugin is best for anti-spam ?

Hi,

I have some sites and somehow user's are getting registered or blog comments are posted. I doubt if it is through GSA or some other similar tool. How to avoid spams and protect the site ? What free word-press plugin is best to keep spam away ?

Akisimet is supposed to be pretty good. I don’t know of any other free ones, but I’ve been testing this plugin for the past few days and it’s low cost - https://cleantalk.org/

I'm using akismet on all of my sites and dont really have probmes with spam comments anymore.

1.- make comments require manual approval
2.- add a captcha to the comments form

I had a problem of excessive comment spam. Akismet seems to do the trick for me.

Akismet for sure, you can get an API key by signing up.

Akismet for sure. If you have trouble with users registering and then posting, just disable registration on the site. Otherwise add recaptcha on registration if you need registration to be open.
