So my site keeps getting restricted due to cpu usage on my blog. I have optimized the crap out of it and even paid for a cdn.

I got into chat with them and asked if somebody could help me pinpoint what exact script is causing the cpu hog since i don't have access to see that through shared hosting. (well... i can see the processes in cpanel, but there is so much of a delay that it is pointless). The guy told me that he cant help me and i would need to put a ticket in to it looked at.

3 days now and no response to my ticket. I have posted like 4 updates to it with more info in hopes that it would get it looked at sooner. During these 3 days my account has been restricted like 10 times and im sure will be auto termed before they even look at it.

Can somebody please recommend some good hosting for wordpress that can host a site that gets decent traffic (always 50+ people on the site at any given time) AND will actually help me figure out wtf is going on if i have cpu issues with them?

This is an adult site.

Thanks

Hostgator is getting worse. I wrote about their support issues about a year ago and not much has changed unfortunately. If you find a good host, let me know.

Been reading up and looking at benchmarks. Siteground and Inmotion seem pretty good.

One thing though is that if my cpu is high at hostgator... i can probably expect it to be high elsewhere also (unless they have a more optimized backend)

How about switching to a vps and installing a control panel?
It doesn't have to cost much, it can even be cheaper then shared hosting :)

This.
Get your own virtual box. That will solve the problem.

As a side note - just a regular blog shouldn't really be using much computing power at all... I'd be looking closely at what's causing the issue - you may have a security problem.

before i got into unmanaged vps and dedi's, I was using host gator. I swtiched to a1 hosting and never looked back.

However, if you are just running one wordpress site, look into digital ocean and easyengine. Just login ssh and run the easy engine script. It does everything for you, and makes websites lighting fast (nginx+memcached)

As you said you had decent traffic, it'd be better to move to higher plan. It seems shared plan is not suitable for your stats.
Plus, it'd be better to check for Malware OR check plugin to see if there is problem with them.

I've faced the similar cpu usage and account execution issue on one of renowned hosting as well. The best way is get a cloud hosting with 1 core and 2 gb ram and you're good to go. Or the other option is to get a cheap vps with centos 6.x and attach cPanel with it. (cpanel costs $15/m).

I just have to chime in on how bad Hostgator has gotten. I am trying to get sftp to work in a SSH enable account and I tried calling support and they couldn't solve it. Told me to open a ticket and it hasn't been answered in 4 days. I used to love their support but no more. Unfortunately I locked myself into a 2 year term with the Black Friday prices. <sigh>

From what I've heard, WiredTree and KnownHost are the best. WebHostingTalk is LITTERED with people doing "WiredTree Vs. KnownHost?" or discussing those two hosts, recommending those two hosts etc.

LiquidWeb and RackSpace are good judging by what I've heard here from big shots, but their services are expensive and I think people go to Liquid for their dedicated servers only, and RackSpace is cloud.

I like singlehop. They aren't the cheapest, but their VPS and dedicated servers are solid.

I have no problem with webhostingbuzz and hostwind, expecially hostwind, their support is pretty good, I got my answer within 2 hours

In short If you want fast reliable Share host go for CrocWeb they are fastest share host I ever tried .
for VPS from experience GreenCloudVPS with SSD is the way to go .

Your problem is you are likely hitting the Processes Limit on the shared hosting plan. Hostgator, and most other shared hosting, have a Processes Limit of 25. By having 50+ people browsing your site at any given moment, it is likely you're hitting the 25 Process Limit, and it's likely you'll hit that limit on other shared hosting as well.

Whatever you do, stay far, far away from Arvixe. Hostgators support is like a wet dream compared to the nightmare support at Arvixe.
