Reaction score

I am running an ad using an instagram post, the placement is on for both instagram and facebook. The breakdown shows me that the post got 270+ reactions on facebook, but this number does not show neither on the instagram post nor facebook. where do these reactions go?

That is actually a virtual display, it will make us misunderstand and lose money unnecessarily.

The reactions you see in your ad breakdown are likely interactions generated from specific placements, such as ads shown in the Facebook News Feed, Facebook Audience Network, Instagram Stories, or other sponsored placements.
However, these reactions are not always publicly visible on the original post from your Instagram or Facebook account. They remain linked to the sponsored versions of your post, which are displayed to different audiences, sometimes in different formats (e.g., an ad may appear differently in the News Feed than in Stories).

This reaction score is not only the number of likes on the post, but also the number of additional views, clicks on the link, comments, etc.

I understand, thank you for clarifying.
will it be a better practice to remove these placements from the Ad set? my client currently cares about the "likes and comments" and I want to maximize these as much as possible.

Yeah bro, those reactions are from the ad on Facebook, not the original IG post. When you run an IG post as an ad on FB, any likes or reactions it gets stay on the ad itself, they don’t carry over to the original post. You can check them in Ads Manager, but they won’t show up on your IG or FB feed.

If you see a mismatch in the number of reactions, be patient and check back after a while. If this continues, you can contact Facebook support to learn more.

They remain on that specific ad unit. You can't view them elsewhere.

What I recommend is to go to that Ad unit being liked and invite all those who reacted(like, love etc) to follow/like your page.

Some would respond positively, it's an easy easy to increase your followers without spending more.

It's possible that some settings in your ad aren't set up properly, resulting in the reaction count not being displayed correctly on both platforms.

This reaction score is calculated on more than just likes and comments

You can check them in Ads Manager because most likely it is not showing on your original post.

these numbers are depend on likes comment rules interaction rules shares and many other things they may it will not show on your one post but it will be in the ad browser it will have aggregate statistics you can check there

Hey, I had a similar experience before! From what I understand, sometimes the reactions from Facebook ads don't immediately reflect on the Instagram post or Facebook page, especially if the ad is using "automatic placements" or is run as an ad directly through the Facebook Ads Manager. The reactions might be showing up in your ad performance report, but not on the actual post itself. I’d recommend checking your Facebook Ads Manager for more details, as reactions there might not always sync up with what’s shown on the actual platform.

Also, try refreshing the post or waiting a bit, as there can be some delays in updating the counts. Let me know if that helps!

You can choose advertising formats such as increasing reach to increase likes as well as comment rules depending on you can reallocate your advertising plan

It doesn't have to be the number of people who liked your post. It could just be the number of views or clicks on your link.

Those reactions should be visible only for people reached by your ad

Reaction score is calculated on many metrics it is not likes or comments

All those metrics aren't just about comments and likes
