Me and a friend have started our second Shopify store after the first one went well but wasn't a winner. We lost some money but not a lot.

We started our second store last week with a new product that has already seen a lot of sales on aliexpress and other sites, we feel we have nailed our website and have a custom video of the product which we recorded ourselves. Facebook ads results with purchase and add to basket:-

The relevance scores on facebook are also 8-10/10.

We have spent around £120 so far and haven't had a single sale?
This is the behavior map from google analytics:-

I have recently added reviews to the product and home page and dropped the price down in hope we see some sales.
Any advice, as our first store was getting sales here and there from the get go.
    Thanks

How's your FB targeting? Are you doing flex targeting? I had the best results with this. Really drill down your audience, that was the make or break for me.

Also, use "sale countdown" to stress people into buying. Also put the items on sale (even if it's a "sale"), but I see you've already done that. Free shipping on everything.

Or maybe it has something to do with Black Friday haha.

.. this is why I hate youtube gurus. You two just started a shopify store & went head first into facebook ads..? Are you kidding me? Facebook ads are not the magic potion, if it was everyone with half a brain and a credit card would be a millionaire.

So as I understand you dropped some oversold item you thought is good with 120 on fb ads and thought money will just multiply? So you just keep doubling every day fb ads cost and everyone going to be in love with your magic item and keep buying with your random targeted audiences and you will hit million like next one or two months?

Ye I think we just started at the wrong time, cpc was too high and Facebook ads just wasn't working, time to move onto Google adwords I think.

Added some reviews, seems to have got us a couple of sales through bing since.

Correct, made a few sales through bing so going to move onto Google adwords.

All of the above is correct, apart from the oversold item. On Ali its only sold about 40-50, however we know there is a lot of interest in this from a crowd funding type website. Have made a few sales through bing too in the last 2 days, so believe this product will sell at the price we have set. Going to bin fb ads and try adwords.

you spent 120 on one add or you tested multiple ads and audiences to get to this sum? If it is one add then you should have close it when you hit 15-20 with no sale and move to a different audience... (at this sum, if you targeted ok, you should have had some sales...may be your product is not really a winner...not for facebook anyway)

You need to do 3 things:

Make sure your product matches the target audience you're advertising to.
Make sure the advert copy is good
Make sure the website looks genuine and secure.

    Are you doing these things?

One thing you need to know about Ali, is that 1000s of suppliers sell the same items. Say you see someone sell a cool shirt that has 40 orders, know that 1000s of others also have that shirt for sale. Also lots & lots of suppliers from Ali are actually ALSO drop shipping, from 1688.com.

What I'm saying is, its safe to say anything you find on Ali is being sold by lots of suppliers and being drop shipped by lots of people. It's near impossible to find something that's not saturated. Now I'm not completely bashing drop shipping as this is my main way of income, all I'm saying is that it won't work properly until you know how to sell. & That doesn't happen overnight on fb or google ads, that happens through hard work, patience, lots of research & good use of social media/email marketing, start there.

The last thing I'm going to say, 99% of people who have tried the same route have failed AND given up. Make sure you're not gonna be that person.

Thats 100% correct. It is near imposssible to find an interesting yet unsaturated product. Though, there are many succesfull shopify stores selling items from Ali but they spent lots of time, effort and money in testing. GL OP.

    "saturation" means basically nothing.
If you can't make sales on items that have 3, 5, or even 8 thousand orders then you need to stop dropshipping. Sure an item with 10-15K orders on ali is approaching the range of "saturation" but at the end of the day it all depends on the product. A piece of jewlry with 6K orders could be considered more saturated than disposable teeth whitening kits with 10K orders. There are many variables you need to take into account to determine saturation level aside from just how many orders it has on ali.
