Serious question, I don't think a company like Google with its social network will be able to bring it down because it's too similar and defeats the purpose. So when? Give me a time period? 3 years?

As soon as the majority will feel like FB doesn't get the job done properly anymore. That's also why, as it stands, G+ doesn't have a chance. As most of their zillion beta products it spiked due to their online power then settled right after a few zealots and early adopters went: "look, ma retarded buds r not here, lets go back to fb".... Not that easy to move 600M ppl that can't find a clear issue with where they are, namely FB...
I read a very good analogy somewhere with Bing: it's not that it's a bad SE, it's just that ppl don't see any clear or abysmal lack on Google that would make them consider to switch...
And as we all saw privacy concerns are not that relevant to average joe on the interwebz so, if I were ZuckerSuck I wouldn't fret any time soon.
