HOW I STARTED

I was 17 when I first started my journey. Back then, I know almost nothing about Internet marketing, affiliate marketing or SEO. Wordpress was all that I know, to be frank - not so much I knew about WP, just a glance. I was not even a rookie. But I was able to get some money out of it, which was more than enough for me. Often, I get jobs for Video editing too, it was my favorite job. So never missed anything. Things went smoother. Have arrived lots of strategies to find potential buyers and I did have some repeated buyers.

HOW it HAPPENED

It was midnight. I could barely open my eyes, kind of tired and in bad shape coz of day's work. Gotta message from a buyer. Quickly we shared skype ids and started chatting. That guy tempted me with numbers, and I fell for it at once. He made me believe, he was from an organized firm that sells web designing. Deceived me, that I could make 100s in a day. He got my paypal and other email ids for communication. [that's what I believe].

He, then got my mobile no.! Asked me to provide a code which receive via SMS for verification. Idiotically, I provided him the same without even think for a second. Actually it was google verification code for forget password! In a matter of seconds, he got my g mail and the yaho which was my secondary/alternate mail id :( So, in a minute he was in possession of my primary email accounts, which I did not know for 15 minutes until I tried to login my email. With the help my email, he got access to my fiverr and withdrawn all my money. At that time, it was quite easy to change the pp in frr. No confirmation required!

It was $54, may be not much but it was a hard earned money :( It took me 48 hours to gain access to my fr account again. It was the first time, I got scammed and was broken. Things changed, now I know something that I could differentiate real and fake buyers [most of the time]. Been 7 years, still remember the bitter experience, got from it.

just wanted to share it. Even experts or more than just experts might come across situations where they get scammed at any point of their life. if you have anything like this, do share.

Oh wow that's sad to hear. Well it's good that you learned a lesson at least.

Thank you for sharing!

Wow that is a sad experience, i also had a similar situation but i wasn't technically scammed.

I was naive and i lost more than 1k in the marketplace, wouldn't blame anyone because i learnt a lot since then. So yea better lose 1k now than 100k in the future.

bought oregano instead of weed

:') just kidding lol but i know someone that did. ROFL

I never got 'scammed' but i lost money buying shitty "SEO" services, software and hosting.

If buying shit services in the marketplace counts then i've been scammed out of at least 2k.

Felt like testing the waters one week and 90% of it was a waste :)

Call of Duty MW2: Paid $20 to get into a 10th Prestige Lobby at the age of 13.

I paid my VA's college fee at $300, and he worked for 100 hours after that. I had some trust in him and he came up with a business idea I thought sounded pretty damn solid, so I invested $1000 in it, and he left forever. Me and him even got a contract signed, which was used when I told PayPal to refund my money. This was a few months ago. Never lost money by being scammed though except taxis in foreign countries maybe!

I got scammed $300 from a 'close' mate, turned out he wasn't even living in my town anymore while he was in the process of scamming me. I thought I was getting a car but not even. I was not a fu*ken happy man.

Blocked me on FB, where the discussion was taken place.

UPDATE: I deposited the money into his bank account, I should of been more cautious.

Op hope the dood burns in hell what he did was pure evil bubba

Usually when I hire freelancers from here or upwork. They're more concerned about 5 star rating than doing a good job. Gotta be very careful in vetting freelancers.
