My biggest SEO challenge right now isn't rankings, it's attribution.
People are discovering brands through so many different touchpoints now: AI answers, Reddit threads, YouTube videos, and social posts. They only search the brand name directly after they already know what they want.
The problem is that most analytics setups still give credit to the last click, which makes our SEO work look weaker than it actually is.
I have built pages that barely gained organic clicks on their own, but they noticeably bumped up branded searches, direct visits, and overall conversions. Traditional SEO metrics just don't capture that anymore.
The real challenge in 2026 is proving SEO's actual contribution when Google search isn't the first or last step in the journey. Ranking is easy to measure; influence is hard.
I am spending way less time obsessing over keyword positions now, and a lot more time tracking brand mentions, branded search growth, and overall visibility everywhere else.
