What's the earning potential for a 30 site PBN?

From the title this may seem like a "how long is a piece of string" type of question, but it's not.

This goes out to members who have significant experience in building PBNs and ranking stuff with them.

Suppose you have a 30 website PBN, built on expired domains (not auction), all with dof0llow RD 30+, decent link profiles, clean history. The PBN is all live and indexed, just waiting to link out.

You can use it to rank one relatively small MS and those PBN links are the only links you can use.

Given your experience and your skillset, what kind of revenue would you expect to achieve from this project? Would you go for one competitive keyword, or multiple less competitive ones? What else can you say about your strategy for this kind of a project?

I'm just trying to set some expectations to know what I'm working for, that's all. I do understand that ranking will depend on things other than the PBN and that not even experienced people can give a precise number. I'm merely looking for a revenue figure that you would expect to attain in order to label the project "reasonably successful" for yourself.

The best tip I can give is: that is amazing start to rank high in almost any low-mid niche. The rest is completely up to you ;)
 
Minimum "success" would be $4,000 annually from the PBN use.
How did I come up with that number? It is the rough approximate cost I calculate for annual upkeep of the sites, everything that PBN helps you earn is profit and only you can decide what you feel profit is worth.
Yes, you could upkeep it for cheaper, but that is my approximate cost for a 30 site PBN.
 
I'd want at-least $1000 a month from this. But I'd also sell links to other SEO's in private communities on a monthly rental basis. An extra $500 a month to fund new content for my lead gen sites or small niche sites would allow me to expand quite quickly. Not to mention If you can trade for other links
 
Or you could sell it either as one PBN or say 3 smaller ones.
 
It depends so much on the niche and how you monetize, so it can be from $100 - $2000+ a month. I've had projects that rank well already with good content, so adding around 20 PBNs just makes it excellent. You can always sell links to your PBN and monetize it that way, then you need to check the market price and calculate what your PBN is worth.

What would you consider a "mid" niche? These low/mid/high competition terms always confuse me because they seem to be extremely subjective.

Thanks for providing a specific number.

Okay, so that's the revenue needed for a break-even. But surely you wouldn't consider a project that's just sitting at break-even to be a success? It would be a useless time drain. I also assume you wouldn't be too happy if such a project was making like $50 a month in profit, right? What would be a number for which you could say, "Yeah, that's about right. I'm happy I started this. This income makes the project worth my time."?
 
i work on x10 times the profit so

40k month for 4k month method.

most ppl just x2 so 8k month would be normal

Thanks for your answer, that's the kind of info that I'm looking for. Just out of curiosity, when you say "projects that rank well already with good content", can you give an example, like what kind of EMS, what position (using only content, before links) and whether it's a commercial intent keyword?

What do you mean by "4k month method"? If you are referring to the number that @patriotnews mentioned, then that was annual cost, not monthly.

Would you seriously expect to make $40,000 per month with a 30 site PBN aimed at one money site?

i would rather sell those as a SEO services here on BHW, 30 links can play for easy to medium keywords, for higher competition keywords you'll have to be constant!
get tons of new strong links on weekly basis, try going on a medium keyword check if it works for ya, and sell it as seo service, it will be sky rocket for small niches!
 
The domain fees are thirty bucks a year. How expensive could the hosting be?

Also, is there a decent PBN guide or journey on bhw?

Heh, thanks. To be honest, the last thing I want to do is sell SEO services on BHW. Customers with their deadlines and non-stop support questions is like having a boss. I'm working hard on not having to have a boss :)

But I'd ask you one thing I asked somebody just a few posts above: what do you consider a "medium" keyword?

Most commonly used TLDs will be less than $30 per year. Hosting ranges from a few bucks per year to maybe $5 per month. Depends on the level of "shadiness". I'm not sure if it makes sense to go above $5 per month for a PBN site; maybe if you're going for super-quality PBNs.

There's a PBN guide published here like every week. Search "pbn guide", I'm sure you'll find something.

low cpc i guess? its what everyone looking for to make more money, trend/search volume, the amount of competition on that keyword, there are a lot of factors. if its a money making site how trend the sales/ if its a seasonal thing, if its a blog or a news site...
there is not real way to be correct with that definition, that's why we have Ahrefs/Moz/Semrush/Majestic...

Honestly, I wouldn't use 30 sites to rank a single keyword, I would use interlinking to spread the love and build it up.
My comfort point is different from yours though, because I build sites for the long term, planning on not seeing any(or essentially pennies) for the first 24 months as I build it up. Expected plans are once the project starts ranking good, to recoup all costs of last 24months(links, content, hosting) within next 6, months, then get 6 months of profit, then it just starts building up. With a long-term plan, I don't work to a final dollar point, rather I build for an unlimited potential and base success on other factors.
I know, long nothingness answer, but I don't want to throw out as number, because that is different from how I account, but I will give an example, so this isn't just a long winded "no"
So $4,000 annually PBN x2yrs = $8,000
$ite content = $5,000 over 2yrs
Other links = $5,000 over 2yrs
Hosting, renewals, business junk = $1,000 over 2yrs
Total investment: $19,000
If after 2yrs, I was consistently making $3-4,000 I would consider it a success. I barely even measure the dollars per month BEFORE 2yrs, and simply reinvest it(which usually means I have paid more than $19k, but that is reinvesting, so I don't account for it).
 
dont rent it out or you will destroy its value! sorry but without knowing niche, affiliate you use etc, its hard to even give a rough estimate.
i mean you can earn tons with 1 site and you can make no money with 100 sites. it all depends on what you are doing :)
 
That is a massively subjective question. I incorporate PBNs into SEO stratgies I sell to clients and that's worth 60k per year per customer on average...... If you are gonna CPA with your money site then depends on a bunch of variables let alone whether you rank.... The real question is what could I earn from ranking number 1 for X. How you get there is basically irrelevant.
