What You Wear on Your Wrist...

For me watches are just things of the past. Everything is in the mobile phone.

I have a g shock

Those are pretty sick....

and for everyone saying mobile phone...a GShock is a perfect example of what a mobile phone can't do.

Durable. You guys ever go outside and play?

That looks like a 5$ Watch with that rubber collar lol

I disagree. It looks like a $500 to $5000 watch to me. Rubber straps are just a different style and more practical for certain people/lifestyles. I like to be ready for anything, and I wouldn't feel comfortable wearing a metal clasped watch during a zombie attack for example.

High five

On a more serious note, no, I wouldn't want a pair of handcuffs and when it comes to watches any cheap crap will do as long as it runs well. Not a big fan of watches I guess.

I appreciate fine time pieces. Guess it's just the old man in me but there are few things that have the intrinsic soul of a fine time piece.

My favorites have to be thin retangular Waltham's from the 1920's. That and an Alligator strap for said watch. :)

If I was going out to play, why would I need to know what time it is? I would be out to enjoy myself. A watch is also quite dangerous to wear during sporting activities as it may hurt you or someone else if you come into contact or it gets caught on something. Cargo shorts+blackberry+rubber case is good enough for most situations. I think my phone could take a baseball to my pocket better then a watch face could, but I could be wrong.

i'm wearing a Doxa Style for years now:

Not necessarily baseball or team sports, but skating, snowboarding etc. The few I could think where it is most practical are any mountain sports: climbing, downhill biking etc. Just due to wanting to know the time so you can make it down the mountain before dark and durable so when you smash into something it lasts.

Either way, watches are not necessarily for everyone and in most cases are luxury items but what about diving too? Can't bring a phone underwater and even though I can tell my oxygen gauge I'd like a watch to be able to help me out there.

I dont have a GShock...

I just use my cell phone for the time. A watch to me is an unneeded accessory. Other than "style" it doesn't add much value imo.

It isn't that I disagree a watch can be used in those situations, but do you really believe that going hiking/snowboarding/climbing/biking without a cell phone is a great idea? Its just not for me. If you get hurt, a designer watch wont call for help or transmit your last known GPS information to authorities for help (at least not that I am aware of ). There are lot of good cases available to protect phones for more extreme sports, so that they should be able to take a direct impact very well. I doubt I will ever go diving, so that wouldn't apply to me or 90% of people in the world (estimate of course).

Im having trouble deciding between this

:y: How can a watch cost so much

On topic, I don't wear a watch, Thats why I got a phone

as many others i just use my phone to check the time or laptop :) although watches do look like a nice piece of an accessory.

I have an Ion Bracelet. Yes, probably a placebo but it still looks cool.
