We all know how it works and there is a huge collective voice yelling PayPal sucks. If you have the time and wish to share your opinion please elaborate WHY PayPal sucks (or not)?

Keep in mind :

1) What is the biggest PayPal Issue?

a) Fees
b) Customer Support
c) Frozen assets (accounts frozen containing currency)
d) Easiness of disputes and the way in which those are handled

2) If you were the owner, or had the "ruler's wand", what would you do to improve it?

PS: If you have had positive experiences with PayPal, please do not hesitate to share it here as well.

I kindly ask everyone to respect other BHW members' opinions (whether those are PROs or CONs) and not turn this thread into a hate bucket aimed at PayPal.
Thank you!

Biggest paypal issue is that sometimes to change the smallest of things requests closing the account and creating a new one. For example, I recently created an account with the wrong country by accident... I emailed paypal and they told me that the only way to correct this is to close the account... You also can't change names of the paypal emails that are added.

I would close paypal down all together for limiting legit sellers account for no reason. Its shocking how they treat people!

Once upon a time there were some bad sellers... they scammed a few good buyers.
Then Paypal all but declared "We shall ALWAYS side with a buyer during a dispute. ALWAYS!"
Now, instead of 10 scammer sellers, paypal has 10 scammer sellers and 1000 scammer buyers not LOOKING for, but KNOWING they can get something for nothing.

Close it down, because it needs a huge task force regulator sat on top of it making it behave and that ain't gonna happen

So SHUT!

For me its the fact that sometimes Paypal will freeze your account just because they think its "fishy". Ive had mine frozen and all my information were legit and I even sent in all the required documents without any issues. But they still rejected.

Again! The freezing of legit accounts. Heard storys of people loseing a good couple of k for 6 months.

I've lost nearly over $5000. Since moving to 2Checkout, I've had NO issues whatsoever. Paypal truly sucks. It's a shame that most people online use Paypal. If AlertPay was just as popular, trust me, everyone would use that. It is much better than Paypal.

For me the biggest issue with Paypal is that it does not allow people from certain countries to withdraw funds. I come from Kenya and although I can receive funds from Paypal, I cannot withdraw a dime until I have an American bank account. I also use Paypal to make online payments and I have never had issues with them....everything has been fine and with low charges, but I keep hearing numerous people complaining about frozen assets by paypal...

Conclusion: I like paypal mainly because they don't allow scammers to defraud people. If I was the owner, I think I would allow withdraws to all countries that paypal is already existent! ;)

Would be great if Paypal had a Debit card in Australia (or other countries for that matter). As far as I'm aware it's only available in the US at this stage.

Why is PayPal not available to all country? With the PayPal registered from our country, we cannot receive funds as well. That sucks!

If I was the owner of paypal I would make an oversight committee of experienced & trusted paypal employees who oversee limited account issues and buyer resolutions to deal with them in a fair manner or at the least train their staff ways to deal with this in a better way. Good things about paypal: Some of their staff are helpful and paypal is used worldwide. It's also easy to use. In all honesty that is where the good stuff stops. Excessive limiting of legitimate accounts for no proper reason and always siding with the buyer with almost no oversight on the bigger picture (which proliferates thousands upon thousands of scam buyers) has turned paypal into a farce of a company.

THE REAL REASON PAYPAL LOVES TO LIMIT ACCOUNTS: No matter what contrivances they embellish as the reason they claim to limit your account in almost 80 percent of cases it is because when they limit your money for 180 days (minimum) THEY ACCRUE INTEREST! They make interest on top of whatever fees you paid them using this technique and this is the only legal way they can make interest considering they are not legally considered a bank. They have even done this countless times to registered charities who had large amounts in their paypal account (search google for more info). Half the time anytime a larger amount of money comes in paypal bot algorithms kick in and limit your account.

Did you get the money back after the 6 month wait? What were there reason for limiting your account? And did you send in all the I.D they asked for? Ifso what was there response?

They need to be much more careful about limiting and freezing accounts.

PayPal customer service is ridiculous

Paypal should be more transparent in their ongoings for sure. I suspect they make a lot of money off of freezing accounts and I believe that is why it's done so often. They make money from the interest.

I hear a lot of stories about people getting their accounts suspended just because they sent a lot of money through paypal -- why penalize people for success? (and I used to work there).

Reduce fees, it's unfair - money from one paypal to another paypal, gets charged. Paypal's only real 'transaction' is a database update of amounts in user accounts.

Isn't this how Paypal primarily makes money though?
