I made my first site in a niche that was really hard to monetize, also used some shady sitebuilder-package with hosting that was way too expensive. But I did learn plenty from that project, so no regrets.

Nice idea for a thread OP. I thing this should be made sticky and all the newbies should read it post by post. I've made many mistakes in my IM career but i think three of them are the ones anyone new in the business should know about and try to avoid:
1> Not taking action (or not taking enough action).
2> Jumping from method to method
3> Putting all your eggs in one basket.
Personaly, I found rule number 2 the hardest not to break in the beginning.

Another big mistake I made was selling an authority web site on flippa w/ a BIN price. The site sold in only 2 days. I wish I would have not used BIN to see how much I could have gotten for it. Maybe 5 times the amount of my BIN. Also, I think I need to learn more about keyword research...because I can't rank worth !@#$. My adsense makes me about .25 cents a day.

Paid to join WF war room, didn't realize that I could actually get all sort of information here for free.
My first mistake was definitely thinking that I could forego a regular job to sit at a computer all day making websites and selling things. You can work as hard as you like but if its your very first venture you either need a brilliant, one-of-a-kind idea or do something short term with little long-term consideration when trying to make quick profits. The rent and bills may fully support your efforts, but they won't wait around for your first cheque to arrive!
I'd call it more an experience than a mistake - it was inherently wrong, yes, but I was fortunate enough to do it ten years ago when bills were nothing compared to now. Now I treat IM as more of a hobby - I've had successes and failures since but never gambled everything on it. It also makes me appreciate my day job that little bit more until the time that I can possibly afford to go full circle and sit at my computer all day making websites and selling things

My first mistake was probably setting up a site with no keyword research and with total crap content (poorly re-written or sometimes directly copied) When that site failed to make any money, I bought two more domains and set up sites there hoping that I just had to find the right niche. I didn't put much research into either of those two sites, and they also failed. I also wasted $25 on Fiverr Scrapebox blasts directly to these sites (yea, straight to the money site ) desperately hoping that it would get them some traffic.
I'm on my 4th site now and I did it right this time... I'm getting a couple sales per week from Clickbank. But I wasted $10.99 on each of those domains, plus $25 on the Scrapebox blasts... I wish I had that money back. I guess it was a lesson learned!

MY FIST MISTAKE: I thought i would live mylife in luxury and i Wud have lot of free time once i start earnign a descent money from internet.
And now when i have started earining i find myself stuck to my laptop like 20 hours a day.
I am so short on Time . No time to do anythign else but IM
