What TLDs do you use?

Hey guys,

I hope this question is not that private, but I am curios what TLDs people use. I am not really interested in the purpose or area.

I am working on a personal project and wanted to know what is used aside the usual .com, .org..

If I'm just testing a new idea I go for the cheapest. By cheapest I mean the current sale price and I don't care much about the renewal price since I wont renew anyway. Anything below 3usd is fine with me.

during testing I place it in flippa. Never had luck selling anything in flippa so they just expire.

If it's something that I have some confidence will work long term then it's .com

btw, .com is cheaper at namesilo than namecheap.

I am confident .coms will always be valuable, it's just that they are getting too expensive, especially the expired good ones.

.com .com then .com maybe .co.uk if my site is UK facing.

Rare times a .org, .net or even .info

Let me just add..

Maybe you're curious what happens if the initial idea shows potential?

301 Redirect to point to the new .com site.

How much do I save?

I don't keep track of everything but let's say only 1 out of 10 goes to .com
So the 9 cheap domains that failed only cost me $27 which, if I went straight away to .com would have cost $90 (at $10 each).

.com only I’ll choose country ones if it’s a local business project

i go for .com when having something like eCommerce i go for .store if can't find the .com name available

Use .com if you are selling something the others TLD's if you are not selling anything and do not forget to get a SSL certificate to be trusted...

it depends on the place and purpose it is used for like .edu can be used mainly for educational ones, .int for international ones...
