So, I'm looking through the top queries for the month and I noticed that we got 184 clicks to one of our pages from the search query:

WTF is this??? How is that URL a query? We have ZERO links and ZERO association with that site but we did find one competitor of ours who had links within the content.

But it still doesn't make sense. Why did we get hundreds of clicks from that site and why is that site showing up as a search query in our Search Console? Has anyone ever seen something like this?

Something really isn't sitting right with me...

It could be a case of "referrer spam," where a site generates fake referrals to manipulate data

Referral spam. They're probably injecting that into millions of sites hoping curious webmasters will visit

Looks like referrer spam to me too like @TheSplinter also said. I wouldn’t bother much about it as it will not affect ranking atall.

Could it, by any chance, be malicious in intent? What I mean is could it be used to downrank my page??

I don't think so. If anything, it'll downgrade the site being used in the attack. Could be an attack on that site instead.
