Hello everyone,

In the keyword planner, there are two bid ranges:

  • Top of page bid (low range)
  • Top of page bid (high range)
I am setting up my campaign with the "Maximize Clicks" strategy, and I need to set a Maximum Cost-Per-Click (CPC) bid.

Which of these bid ranges should I use as a reference when setting my Maximum CPC?

What are your experiences? How do you determine the right bid for maximizing clicks?

If you're using the Maximize Clicks strategy, Google will optimize the bids itself to get as many clicks as possible within your budget. However, to avoid overpaying, you can use the top bid (high range) as a benchmark to set a maximum CPC.

How I do it:
I look at the high range in the Keyword Planner.
I set the maximum bid just below that value to control costs.
Test and adjust bids based on results (CTR, CPC, conversions).

The key is not to set the bid too low or the campaign won't be competitive. Start with moderate values and gradually optimize. Good luck!

Thanks for information i appreciaed it

I usually don't set any cpc limit unless Google gets greedy.
That being said, in most cases the lowest cpc traffic per keyword is the segment no one's bidding for, so bear that in mind.

Invest the effort in building a good list of negative keywords.

I have really low budget, that's why i choosed my keywords just for intent (buy, purchase) and low competition.

Also i built around 1300 negative keywords for my campaign.

In short of my keywords are

- Buyer intent long tailed
- Low competiton
- Medium or low-medium search volume
- 1300 negative keywords

I hope i can turn this ad into a good conversion rate.
