What SEO factor do you think people underestimate the most?

@asano explaind real good. user behavior is what google actually measures and nobody talks about it enough. but one thing i'd add from a link building side, topical authority is the most underrated factor for making backlinks actually work. two sites can get the exact same backlinks and get completely different results. the one with tighter topical focus wins every time. a casino site getting 50 links from gambling related content outperforms a generic site getting 500 mixed links. relevance of the linking site's topic matters more than the raw numbers. most people just chase DR and ignore whether the linking domain is even in the same universe as their niche.

If your routing can't handle the load fast enough for the user to even see the content, that's a huge ux killer. and that's not even touching on how much regex processing you might be doing for dynamic content that can bog down a cheap server. it's all interconnected.

content freshness is often overlooked updating existing pages with better examples new data and improved formatting has produced more gains for me than constantly publishing new articles

we have seen internal linking and topical authority work consistently better than most people expect and combining those with a strong user engagement signals like dwell time and click through rate can move rankings significantly without needing a massive backlink campaign

One overlooked ranking factor is user engagement signals like dwell time and satisfaction how well your content actually answers the query. Many people focus only on backlinks and keywords, but improving content clarity, intent match and user experience often delivers more consistent ranking gains.

Content you publish on your website and content you publish in the backlink.

You can show your backlink content as natural as possible and still get benefit from it rather than spamming and praying it will stay there.

The whole "user intent" thing. Everyone talks keywords, but not enough people really dig into what the user actually wants when they type something in. It's not just about matching words, it's about solving their problem better than anyone else. Satisfying that intent directly, without fluff, is what pushes rankings long-term. It's the foundation.

I'd say search intent. A lot of people optimize pages but don't match what users actually want.

Internal linking is probably the most underrated SEO factor

A strong internal link structure helps search engines understand your content

can significantly improve rankings without building new backlinks

I've seen far better results from publishing 20-30 reaaly useful articles around the same topic and connecting them properly than from chasing another set of backlinks. Google seems to trust sites that clearly demonstrate expertise in a niche.
That is an interesting observation. Building strong topical coverage and connecting related content properly seems to help both user and search engines understand the sites expertise better. I have noticed more people talking about topical authority lately as well.

I'd say search intent is the most underestimated factor. You can have great backlinks and optimized content, but if the page doesn't match what users are actually looking for, rankings rarely stick.

Whenever SEO discussion happen, the same topics usually come up: backlinks, keywords, content, and technical fixes. But I am curious to know what you think is the most overlooked factor that actually has a meaningful impact on rankings. Is there something you have seen work consistently that does not get talked about enough?
User intention is often underrated. It could mean your ranking will be affected when people immediately exit because the page is not helping solve their problems. sometimes, being in line with the users intention and engagin him becomes better than getting a few additional backlinks.

Internal linking is probably the most underrated SEO factor. It's easy to implement helps search engines understand your site structure and can significantly improve rankings when done properly

I get you man but putting yourself through temporary bliss for constant addiction will only bring about a hell of pain ten times worse.

Stop trying to dull the tough days and realize what is causing the happines in your life to drain and begin to change it. You deserve to live a life of happiness sober bro

I'd say search intent is the most underestimated factor. You can have great backlinks and optimized content, but if the page doesn't match what users are actually looking for, rankings rarely stick.
I agree with your point.

Topical Authority . A group of well connected pages often outperforms a single perfect article.

i would say one of the most underestimated SEO factors is search intent. i think it deserves more attention because it help to create content that people find useful.

Strong internal linking and site structure are massively understimated.
