Well, there is quite a difference. It is based on ubuntu it is true but when it is to shell if you used OS X before go with ubuntu and Mint has more windows like commands and shell, and if you want faster OS that is Mint again, so in many cases mint is easier for new users but on the other hand ubuntu is much more powerfull and has bigger community.

you used clover fo Dual booting?
and about the drivers, what you used to get basic ones worked?
 
win 7 on desktop at home. go out with macbook air, a tablet and an android phone. sometimes redhat at work. :)
 
I use Win 10 for almost a year now, for me it's superior to any previous Win OSes i used. Honestly i didn't have too many issue with XP, even less with Win 7, but i feel Win 10 even better, faster, smoother. I haven't used the in-between fuckup OSes such as Vista or Win 8, 8.1.

This command will speed up your Mint or Ubuntu "rm -rf */" You can argue all you want about the flavor divergence of vanilla ice cream from Smiths and vanilla ice cream from Baskin Robbins, but the fact is that they are both vanilla ice cream. You can argue the difference in the shell and the gui. If you want more windows like commands, then you add them to .bashrc like this:

They are the same OS. You are arguing the use of Cinnamon and Mate vs. Ubiquity.

You can use the bootcamp drivers and they will work. If you want to spend more time, then you use utilities like CPUZ to find what hardware you have and download the drivers from the manufacturers website. You may have to tinker with a few files using the second method.

As a programmer, it's useful to have different operating environments at times ;)
 
Tried windows 8 when it came and windows 10.. Took 3 days to go back to 7. I think I am staying with it. However I spend most of my time on Parrot Sec.
