What is your Bounce Rate?

Ok, so iv'e just finished writing a post on Bounce rate! The general census is that the average bounce rate is between 40-60% and some argue that it's irrelevant.

Obviously it all depends on the type of site you have when it comes to determine a 'good bounce rate' + other factors.

So I just wanted to know, what is your bounce rate? and do you feel it's an important metric?

The average bounce rate for my sites is 60-75%. My main site, though, has a bounce rate of only 20%. It doesn't really do me much good (or bad), but I know if I was running a business, the low bounce rate would be making me very happy.

I think it depends on the industry etc. The more general the site, the higher the bounce rate. The more specific a site, the lower the bounce rate. For example, a site about "Diamonds Smuggled from Ivory Coast" would have a much lower bounce rate than "cheap golf balls." But I'm sure there's an industry average, but it would be meaningless from an action/implementation point of view.
 
I am running a blog based on WordPress,SEO and blogging Tutorials. My Bounce rate is bw 71-75
 
Well, my site bounce rate is very low say only 2% and yes, it is imp metric
 
It really depends on the type of site and the industry it is in. I have one site with a bounce rate of 27% for the last 30 days and another site where it as 91% but they are completely different types of site.

The only bounce rate comparison worth making is with your direct competitors - then at least you know the type of visitor is the same and they have the same end goal in mind.
 
The bounce rate on my main money site (eshop of touchable products) almost 30%
 
70%...bounce rate is a metric that is hard to analyze...
 
Yes, Bounce rate is hard to analyse. Mine is around 15%. My first month was 52% and then I added more content and updated my theme and now I have a pretty could rate.

As a standalone figure, it's irrelevant.
For example, I'd expect a sales landing page to have a much, much higher bounce rate than a site full of information on how to toilet train puppies... you'd really have to break it down further into categories to have any meaningful data.

Even then - the source of the traffic is going to play a significantly large part in determining the bounce rate - paid traffic will bounce at many multiples of the bounce of organic traffic from a high SERP ranking.
 
My two website's bounce rate is 40-50 %. Both are E-commerce websites and I really need to come up with a strategy to bring figure that down because it is seriously hitting my business.

Google analytics says 75 %
clicky says 13 %

which one you want to believe .
 
Mine's 48% ona new site, not that bad I guess. Always room for improvement.
 
My site br remained between 42-46% but past few days it has gone to 62-65% [as well as good increase in visitors]
 
It is hard to define a perfect bounce rate.

It changes as per site and niche. If you have MAGAZINE styled look for your site then your bounce rate will start reducing. I have many sites and every site have different bounce rate.

One of them have 71% for last month while another niche site have 46% of bounce rate.

Bounce rate depends upon following things -

1. Quality of content that have ability to engage your visitors. (only quality content wont help, you should master the art to engage your readers on your site)

2. Using IMAGES & VIDEOS within content.

3. Using Magazine styled themes. ( Keep eye on all leading NEWS sites they have typical MESSY look but they still ROCKS)

4. Interlinking within FIRST paragraph of your post.

5. Asking them to leave comment.
