What is your Bounce Rate?

My site's bounce rate is 2.0% according to Google Analytics. I own a record label (indie) so my traffic (years of hard work in marketing my business and acquiring great musicians) is quality.

Oh and personally I feel it's extremely important. Why would it not be? It measures how many people come to your site and just leave compared to visiting other pages on the site.

I don't think it is possible for your bounce rate to be 2%. Maybe you have it miss configured. Check that you havn't installed your GA code more than once on your site.

I did this on accident once. I installed it in the SEO plugin and the GA plugin. My bounce rate dropped to around 1%

You need to check this because 2% is simply not achievable!!

I do feel bounce rate is an important metric, especially if you sell advertising. I have sites with a bounce rate as low as 5% and one as high as 70%... it varies wildly. If I ever buy traffic, it skyrockets. For this reason, if I buy ads, I look for sites with low bounce rates. It matters, especially if you want to sell your site. That's my take.

If the webpage you create solves the visitors query, they don't really have a reason to explore your site. Plus if there is an ad or affiliate link which takes them away....which you want, that increases bounce rate as well. I think median time on site is a more important metric. Don't know of any program which tells you that though

It is very difficult to analyse. It all depends on the content and how we present them. You need to analyse what your readers want from your site, do research properly & then provide informative content to your visitors.

Yes, bounce rate is important for site. It is calculated by how long visitors spend time on the site. Every one wants to be first page on Google. For high ranking must have Good traffic. Just spending few seconds on site is not considered as real traffic and with few second visitors your bounce rate will shoot up, it isn't good for your site. Its about how long user will spend time on the site. Google does not place such types sites in the first page for a long time.
