What is todays SEO? - Full Insight

nice read, however the only thing that bugged me was this thread of yours:

http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...id-1st-big-g-my-success-story-thanks-bhw.html

You made a thread that u reached 1st position, for the first time i guess then?, so well you couldn't know that much of SEO a few months ago, cause else you would have had 100 sites ranking #1.

And now you talk like you are some seo god.

First of all, im not trying to flame/blame or w/e. I just write what I see. So if this post of yours is true or bullshit, we will never know. However I must admit, it is crafty marketing though:)

Great article. I have long suspected that the best secret is the utter simplicity of the (mis)information put out by Google ... If they just throw a few breadcrumbs then the scarecrows all flock ...

In a previous life I was in the military - they hardware I used had a secret, 'Special Feature' ... it wasn't at all clever when you flicked the special switch, the 'Special' part of it was that no-one knew about it. An algorithm is just code ...

-Is Dmoz worth it this days for a very big online store.

Nope. Its just another backlink of wight of maybe 2-3 .gov backlinks. Good, but not worth waiting 2 years, or paying big bucks.

-Can you recomend any web directories for a site like that (big online store)?

I will not use directories. They seem to be having less impact on SEO. (I would say, they are considered somehow as neutral backlinks, not giving much, and not penalizing).

-Do you use or recomend using a close network of blogs or sites that are built with the purpose of backlinking.

No. Everybody can ping them and let Google know what you are doing. They catch up pretty fast now.

-Can you direct me to 1 good network?

Look above ;)

Feels really great to have people like you, I will desperately wait for this thread. It's better to read these kind of informative thread than reading those boring seo's PDF( i don't wanna name 'em) having all kind of B.S, Hoping again for the best from you man.:)

Yeah, some new things ;) I don't like copy-paste work :P

Add more pictures and video. Diversify backlinks. Keep updating content.

It seemed useful to me?

;) You just shortened a lot of text in few words :P

Without doubt one of the most fantastic threads here on bhw.

Thanks man :)

Most of the OP seems to be inline with what the well known people on here have been saying for a long time. If someone disagree's I would love to see their opinion not flames. If your test gave you different results then that would make a good debate.

I appreciate the great explanation and will make a few adjustments to my backlinking stratagy because of this awesome post.

Yeah, people like to say - he is wrong, only because they have been thought differently. Anyways, I am waiting for people to rpove their hate with proof too :)

No man. You misunderstand. If you would knew me, you would know that I had pretty nice company few months back. I am doing WH SEO since 5 years, I had company and I was making nice bucks before my bank account get hacked and CC get filled up with somebody's shopping. I am somehow "Freshman" on this forum, but I have huge experience from before (and no, I am not a DP of WF stuff, as I joined them after BHW).

Alright, fair enough. I guess I shouldn't have judged to soon, my bad.
Quick question, that has been asked several times in other threads, but would like to hear your opinion about it.

Is a .edu.cn worthless compared to a .edu
Or is it important what stands before the .edu? like hardvard or something

Hey,
I can't wait for that 1000th post.

I want it before anyone else!!!!!! lol

Anyway - whatever it is, the 1 thing you can be sure of:

IT WILL BE FANTASTIC:D

Got a question and comments, First off, I really think Extrawinner is on to something with the content and minimal backlinks. Now, I know mathematically no one knows the true Google Algorithm. I have been looking at several sites pertaining to the latest Google Panda/Farmer update.

I see they have hit Content Farms (Ezinearticle and Go Articles) and autoblog scraped type sites hard. I noticed I had 2 sites that were related to 2 seed keywords that took 2 drastic rankings changes one with seed keyword in the domain that is 3 months old and not ranked in top 100 and the other which was targeted for same keywords not in domain about 3 years old in top 20 on average for those keywords.

I wanted to test out backlinks and content.

The new site that had the root keyword in the domain and the other was older seasoned site that had 3k in backlinks and 2 .gov. backlinks

I placed both on Yahoo Directory and optimized description,H2 and titles for both seed keywords.

Then I ran Angela's backlinks and Link wheels/pyramids to both as well as did a huge 100k xrumer link blast with majority of forum profile backlinks for 2 targeted anchor text keywords on for both evenly.

Then started drip feed pinging the backlinks.

Now the new keyword niche domain climbed to top 30 on Google in no time for both keywords. It had new content and it was not duplicated.

The older site I noticed had been dropped from page #1 on one keyword and pages 2 and 3 on others within weeks.

It was almost like it was de-indexed. This site was about 3 years old. The content was older like several months and I noticed my client was creating a couple local keyword domains like Atlanta-keyword.com behind my back using same site theme and posts.

(I found this through a plagiarism checker.) He was pretty much copying some the site and content and images from older site to the new Wordpress blog.

Question: Was it hit by the Panda update or penalized from massive backlinking? If from backlinking, did the new site get some sort of amnesty for being new having the same amount of backlinks for the same keywords? Or was it because of new content on site ?

It now seems that this older site has been placed on some sort of filter for those seed keywords it was previously ranking for so well. The newer site has climbed ranks rapidly.

Also to note, the older site did not have seed keywords in url and the newer one did.

Both are on totally different hosts and class c addresses.

Now the older site is not Sandboxed, I can pull url: and site: in Google search and everything comes up.

I even noticed that some of the pages were indexed on other keywords that were not targeted in link and anchor text blast.

My opinion Older sites 1+ years do not seem to have a big time Google Dance or lose total ranking like this.

My only theory was the old and duplicate content and a massive backlink blast created a scoring penalty for those anchor text keywords.

(Like ExtraWinner was talking about.)

My plan to get out of this.

I think the best way out of this hole would be to create some original content around those penalized keywords and add images with <alt> tags and use the same seed keywords in those as well.

Also, focus on minimal backlinks to each piece of content maybe social bookmark 10 per or so to each page created.

I think maybe do this for a couple a weeks.

Plus install a Twitter plugin to Tweet the article out and like it on a Facebook page. Reason I think social media links are starting to pull a little more weight than usual. (Not spammy type of weight but a little more authority than people think.)

Also, I am not mathematician. But, I do think that there is a metric of total search volume for a keyword and the amount of links that are indexed to it creating some sort of flag for sites that are seeing a crazy amount of backlinks that normally they usually wouldn't see for that type of keyword.

This would make sense to Extrawinners theory in general.

Now, to prove the content theory and see if I can regain rankings for my older site and see if the rankings will come back.

My newer site is actually doing great for same keywords and the linkblast did it well.

If this is correct, it seems there is a big loophole in the algorithm. You could knock out competition for while with a linkblast who have old content or outdated.

I don't think .govs and .edu sites or Wikipedia fall under same algorithm and maybe placed on a special whitelist for authority.

This is just speculation from some latest trials on some of my sites.

If anyone has suggestions on this keyword sandbox filter type of thing and how to get out of it let me know.

I think I just need to start putting out more content around those keywords that were link blasted as mentioned above for the old site to make a come back on those targeted keywords.

What you think?

Perfect Website?

Having around 10 links on each page. External links to authority sites that are anyhow under same category. Few videos, and 2+ pictures for each articles. 80% of unique content. Some big citations. Only naturally looking backlinks. Some backlinks poiting pictures. 50% of inner pages have relevant backlinks poiting to it. Maximum of 40% of forum backlinks, 30% of blog backlinks, 20% profile backlinks. Minimum of 30% authority backlinks. Articles/content of various word count. From 300+ all up to 1.500+. Minimum 30-40 words of unique content on every page.

=======

so basically, the message here is that

1. scrapebox,

2. profile link submitter
and
3. article marketing robot

are all off the menu if youre building an authority website?

Hello, I have two questions for you if you don`t mind.

1) External links to authority sites - no f0llow or d0-f0llow that is the question?

2) I usually make a lot of backlinks during few days and when stop and wait for google to naturally crawl it without pinging. Now I am thinking to upload 500 related and spinned articles to different directories pointing to my 3 weeks old website, google crawls those article sites pretty quickly - won`t that get my in any problem? I am talking about almost immediate 500...
thanks!

ExtraWinner thanks for sharing this information.

Can you please answer this question: What is considered to be an authority backlink? (lets say a Pr 5 blog links back to my site - is it an authority backlink?)
