What is the most important factor in SEO?

Once you "think" you know everything, that's when you'll lose the war.[/QUOTE]

You never "know everything" and let me tell you my friend :

you never loose a war, you let your opponents win

That about it and that's all

People I know always ask me that question and I always give them the same answer...

The most important part of SEO is the one you're working on!

Meaning, linkbuilding is the most important one if you've already selected a great keyword! On-page optimization is the most important, if you haven't done any...

My answer is that any ONE of them can be MOST important, depending on where you are in the process. Skip over a couple of simple things and your hard work goes for naught!

Where is the best place to get help for on page seo.

exact domain name, age, in links quality and amount, meta tags, title and everything else market samurai describes in the seo competition tab.

Most important factor is "Text"... it is nearly impossible to rank well without it.
we can't live without water but it's not the most important thing in our lives.

EITHER WAY YOU LOST... DIDN'T YOU?

THAT ABOUT IT and THAT'S ALL :focus:

Backlinks are #1, and domain authority #2. I've ranked domains with no relation to the keyword, and virtually no content (and defintely not unique) well for many thousands of keywords just with backlinks.

Sounds like a lot more work to backlink thousands of seperate keyword phrases rather than just having the content on your page lol...

most important think imo is choosing ur niche carefully and deep keyword research

if u fail in here ur work can be just useless

The most important thing I have found in SEO is.....

BALANCE

between

ON-page (url, title, content etc)
OFF-page (quality and quantity backlinks with anchor text)
Regularly updated content (for more competitive keywords)

The balance is different for different niches/keywords/long tail etc

Good and unique content which help the other and of-course a lot of backlink's with less number of outbound links.

I would defiantly say backlinks cause i have seen some horrible looking sites with no on-page seo, and they made it to the top.

I hate to sound like I'm stating the obvious but your site being online is the most important thing. If your site is down your never going to get indexed and therefore traffic. All the best keywords, links, titles and other seo won't matter.

I've done lots of SEO for people and you'd be amazed but their are people over look this. I'm being serious too. Their's a lot of idiots out there.

Domain age is not an important factor....anyone who says it is doesnt know what they are talking about. If they want to argue the fact I'm willing to display tones of URLs which show that a 0 age, can rank above a 10 year age for any given keyword.

For me, the most important are;

domain name
keyword density
tags
backlinks

NOT in that order.

100% agree. I have ranked tons of sites that are not even 1 year old, and are outranking 12 year old PR 5 sites.

See this is a two part answer. There is on page and off page optimization. For on page the most important aspect is content. The more you have the better. For off page, relevant backlinks with anchor text.

Dating someone with inside knowledge at Google. Definitely most important.

I just missed the post for backlinks by submitting to some news feeds..
