I can interpret your question in 2 ways, and both are correct:
1) my life had always been linear, in the sense that I've never had major events, happy or unhappy, in anything (I've never won the lottery, I've never known love at first sight, I've never had big pleasant surprises, I've never attended a live match or concert of my favorite musical bands or sports team, I've never received valuable gifts, I've never had any MAJOR happy or unhappy event of any kind EVER)
2) these being said (and analyzing my life in retrospect), I did have small events, both happy and unhappy, almost every day of my life that have not affected me deeply in the short term, but - when taken together - have affected me over the long term. Even today (and over the last 5-10 years) I keep stumbling upon both happy and unhappy (well, unhappy most of the time due to the nature of the world we live in today mostly) events almost daily that shape my being and my understanding of life in general, and of people in particular.
I won't mention the small things that have happened over my 45 years of existence because there are too many to list them all, but what I can say, however, is that one of the most important moments for me (which had shaped my understanding of this world and which is also responsible to a high degree for my way of thinking) is the fact that my mother had introduced me to one of her favorite writers (back then) when I have started being depressed and not give a fuck about anyone and anything from this world, anymore.
At that point, I have stumbled upon the books of an ex secret service Romanian writer (Pavel Corut for those who know him), and I've binged his entire collection (120+ books) in a few short years... I would manage to absorb like a sponge everything he's had to say in each new book in about 4-7 hours (it had depended on that book's thickness), that much I have been immersed into those books and I have absorbed so much knowledge from them that even today (the guy had been murdered 2-ish years ago) - were he to come back to life and write another book, 200 long pages if needs be - I think I'd still finish it within hours
I feel like this had been the turning point in my life, because - had I not been introduced to that dude's books - I would have probably ended up killing myself, or maybe I would have been thrown into the streets or something... I have been in really deplorable states in my life... even today I'm not fully cured and I still have my moments of lunacy (or what resembles to lunacy to me), but those books have given me a new, and accurate perspective on life that I would have not gotten from anywhere else, and they've helped me understand humans better, and where most of our problems come from...
Anyway, sorry for the long rant, but you asked so I had to answer, I couldn't help myself
